Your battery is dead. If you are using the correct power "brick" that your computer requires and it will not charge the battery you need a new battery.

Gateway laptop wont turn on what can i do?

Unplug it, and remove the battery. Hold the power button down for 30 seconds. Then examine the block on the power cord to make sure that the cords are plugged in all the way. Put it all back together, and if your power cord is okay, it should fire right up. If it doesn't, your power cord may be bad.

Computer charges but doesnt want to start up

Remove battery
unplug power cord from laptop
press and hold power button for a least one minute while power cord and battery are removed
insert power cord only
turn on laptop
laptop should turn on without battery installed
if it does not turn on you probably have some motherboard issues
.......
then install battery if it still does not turn ...and try to turn on
it still may turn on...I have seen stranger things happen with computers

**************
you may also want to try another power cord if you have an extra...the power cord may not be allowing enough power to travel thru cord

Dell Inspiron 6000 powers up, caps lock flashes 9 times, then laptop shut down. Why???

Unplug power cord from laptop, remove battery from laptop. Open memory access panel on the bottom of the laptop. Remove memory module(s) (SO-DIMM). Plug power cord back into laptop. Turn laptop on (with the memory removed), the caps lock and scroll lock LEDs light, then the laptop shuts itself off. Unplug power cord from the laptop. Reinstall the memory modules. Make sure they are seated correctly. Put the battery back in, plug the laptop back in, and power on. Laptop should power on and boot up properly.
May need to hold the power button down to get it to power on properly.

Power is going to laptop but it will not turn on. Was just using it w/out power cord. Plugged power cord in and it won't turn on. Tried, Alt, ctl, delete but nothing...:(

Try switching the outlets that you're using the power your laptop. You may have a faulty outlet which could be why it isn't giving off any power to the power cord. Next, try unplugging your power cord, then taking out the battery, plugging back in the power cord and turning your laptop back on. If the laptop turns on, the problem may be with your laptop's battery. If the laptop still doesn't turn back on, put the battery back into your laptop, and see if it works. If it still doesn't work, try taking it to a place like Geek Squad in Best Buy.

Hope this helps!

Hi

Can you please try to leave laptop switched off
plug in laptop and leave until the light on front goes green or at least 2/3 hrs

then unplug power cord
switch on laptop and use it or leave it until it looses all power and switches off

then recharge until green

when battery is fully charged always un plug and use on battery power
until it reaches about 10% before recharging

some people even remove their battery to preserve it if they always use power cord

if this does not sort the problem please come back to us

many thanks
