The Altima line has 2 screws on the hood (part where the knob is that says high carpet and low carpet) that you remove with a philips head screwdriver then you just lift the hood of the vacuum

Most of the newer models have some screws mounted atop the brush housing. you twist them a quarter turn and lower the handle and body to the floor. Lift up the cover and you can now access the belt and brush compartment.

How can I disassemble the Eureka Altima Brush Roll (#60844-7) for cleaning? Thank you, Jerry in Irving, TX

You can remove the two screws in the top cover above the roller. Then lift off the top cover exposing the roller. You can then pull the roller out, and clean out the cradles that hold the end caps. The square end caps can also be pulled off the bearings at the ends of the rollers. I had a lot of stuff wrapped around mine creating a lot of drag, but the bearings were just fine once everything got cleaned out. Just remember which end cap is which, cause they're different for each end.

Eureka Altima - before I can get one room vacuumed the belt breaks. Why?

If the belt is breaking that quickly, there is one very prominent culprit that could be causing the problem. Check to see that the beater brush, the roller brush that the belt is supposed to drive, is turning freely on the unit. Remove the brush and clean as best you can. Add some WD40 at both ends of the beater brush by the hard rubber holders and turn the brush by hand to work it into the joint. Reassemble and be sure the belt is put on so the brush turns in the proper direction. Paul

I have a Ultima 12 amp e10071, The brush is not turning, there is tension on the brush as if the belt is connected but still there is no rotation. The motor does run. How cani open the vac to take a...

You get to the belt & brush roll area from the top. On the hood of the vacuum, right behind the word Altima, to the right & left sides, you will see a screw. Remove them, lift off plastic hood. Check belt if broken or just stretched too big to catch brush to turn it. Check ends of brushroll for any hair, thread buildup & clean it. See if end caps turn easily. If one or both ends do not turn easily, the brush roll would need to be replaced.

How do you replace the belt

Check for a pair of screws at the outer edge of the brush housing area. On this unit I believe the unscrew form above. Then look for any others on the bottom plate below the the brush. Belts can break or burn thru. If your s has burned, clean the burned rubber from the motor shaft before replacing. Spin the brush roll, if it rolls smoothly remove it , place the belt over the motor shaft, then onto the brush and use the brush to pull into place.Check for hair and thread buildup at the end caps of the brush. The nylon caps pop off for cleaning.

Eureka Altima Bagless Upright Brush is not spinning

You probably just have a broken belt. The belt needs to be changed about every 6 months regardless. I believe yours takes a style EXT U(Extended life upright), or a regular Eureka "U" belt works fine too.
