Tray won't close

Use the following steps to close the disc tray on an original Xbox 360 console.
Step 1: Remove the disc from the tray Step 2: Make sure the faceplate is on correctly
The faceplate is the plastic piece on the front of your console.
  • Press firmly around the edges of your faceplate to snap it into place (make sure it is flush with the rest of the console). If the faceplate is not on correctly, the disc tray won't close.
  • If you find that the faceplate is the problem, please contact Xbox Support to order a replacement faceplate.
If this does not resolve your issue, please try step 3. Step 3: Press the eject buttonTry closing the disc tray by pressing the eject button. If the disc tray successfully closes, open the tray and insert a disc. Now try opening and closing the tray with a disc in the tray.
Note Make sure that the disc isn't sticky and doesn't have any labels that could prevent the tray from closing.
If your disc drive still will not close, please try step 4. Step 4: Move the disc drive tray
  1. Gently move the tray up and down, and then from side to side.
  2. Press the eject button on your Xbox 360 console. If your disc drive still will not close, you need to have your console repaired.
  3. Step 5: Request a repair If the disc tray still won't close properly, your Xbox 360 console needs to be repaired.

Xbox 360 disk drive problems

Yes , open up your CD drive remove
the top cover ,turn the belt on the pully
CC like you did before to pull the tray out
till it stops. There should be two small tabs
on etch edge at the end of the tray lift them
and pull this should relase the tray from
the drive . now look down in the frount
of the drive there are to leaf switches on
etch side the they should be straight.
the cats may have bent one of them with
his paws . I guess the cat will stay away
from your xbox now.

hope that help a little

Hi there my 360 is having some problems, when i put a game in it keeps on telling me to insert the disk into an xbox 360, or if the auto run option is off, then it will just say play dvd or open tray? after...

after taking the entire drive apart i found that the laser / moter assembly was offset. this ment that the disk was tilted 1degree towards the laser and intern hittng the laser assembly that so many peopl think is "laser burn" which actualy is the disk physically hitting the laser. how u fix this is as easy as adjusting two screws were the moter and the laser/ tray assembly meat. now thses arnt nomal phillips, flat head or torx scews. i found that stickin a drill bit in the screw head annd turnin it with some pliers did the trick. this fixes the open tray error for good unless the disk is causing it. IF anyone gets open tray ocasionally this should stop it for good. also try cleaning inside of drive make sure connection to drive is good. try turning the system on then emmidiatly opening and closing the tray a couple time.

Xbox 360 elite dvd tray keeps opening and closing

Crack the case and open the dvd drive look for any debris that may be holding the tray from fully closing. Did you recently update the software to the new dashboard? Maybe there is a corrupt file. I would check the drive first. The likely hood is it is a simple problem just hard to diagnose with out haveing it in front of me. The other thing is this the real eject button is down on the metal box on the left under the corner of the DVD drive. check this there isn't something lodged against it or it may be broken. Pushing that button will wake the 360 and open the drive as you mentioned but why it would close on its own is a mystery unless there is a corrupt file or the eject switch is broken.

There is a problem with your disc tray. it depends on you if you want to send it in for repairs or just stick with it.

Might as well call xbox customer support to check the warranty status of your xbox 360.. Goodluck

Xbox 360 draw fault

Try this, while the tray is closing press the eject button again. If that doesn't work you will need to replace the drive. buy the same model and move your logic board over to the replacement drive. It's paired with the xbox 360.
