You'll needing to access the configuration page of your router (ei 192.168.1.1), to make it accessible you'll needing to create a wireless network name and security or encryption to the router (ei WEP or WPA)

To test your Internet connection, connect a LAN cable from your computer to the DSL or cable modem and if you can browser the Internet then your Internet connection is OK, then the problem is the LAN cnnection to the Linksys or the Linksys may not configured correctly.

Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer'sLAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link'sconfiguration URL..
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop withthe router's wireless settings.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then - To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSL or cable modem.

WRT54G keeps disconnecting itself, requires disconnecting/reconnecting power and running setup disk again to reconnect. System info: 12 mb/s cable broadband ISP, Motorola SB5105 cable modem, WRT54G...

Go to Administrative Page on your router at section Setup - Basic and activate: Keep Alive : Redial Period 30 seconds.

After that restart your router

My Linksys WRT54G Will Not Work.

It seems that your cabling is wrong. This is what it should look like:
  1. Telephone outlet to cable modem (Via telephone cable)
  2. Cable modem to router (via Ethernet cable)
  3. router via Ethernet cable or wireless to computers
Does your setup look like this? Please let me know if not so we can configure it correctly.

Router won't connect to wireless

Can you clarify the question.

Is there a modem (cable or verizon) connected to your router; if so you might need to turn off your modem, wireless router and computer for five minutes. Then turn on the modem, wait 5 minutes, turn on the wireless router wait 5 minutes, and then boot your computer. Also, make sure your computer's network card is set to DHCP, which automatically assigns your computer an ip address from the wireless router.

Why does this keep happening??? Please advise...

Your modem is set to only allow one main IP address, which it assigned to your laptop.

Connect the cables through the router, then unplug first the modem, then the router.

Wait 45 seconds, then plug in router, wait 5 seconds, then plug in modem.

Give it a few seconds to talk to everything, and you should be good to go.

Connection drop-outs

Is your laptop wireless adapter a compatable brand. It doesn't necessarily mean the router is bad, you may even be getting RADIO interference from a cordlees or a cell phone in it's path. Do you have the capability to plug a cat-5 cable directly into your laptop from the router when you lose wireless? Check the wireless channels and see about changing the channel on your cordless phone too. May not work, just a hunch.

Good Luck

Can't get connection between modem and wireless router

You probably will need crossover; a straight through cable is normally lan card to lan card on both PC's, that is the router is set correctly and there are no other issues.
