Question about Zenith 12vDC 800mA 20W AC Adaptor A41208 (1500850) Power Supply

1 Answer

Sometimes the TV comes on and works fine with no problems for weeks, other times it will not come on at all, not even a click when pressing the on/off button. Strange but seems to work ok in hot humid wheather and not in cool dry wheather. Maybe a short?

This is just a suggestion ... try removing the battery and turning the computer on with only the mains power lead attached.

Sometimes, as the battery dies, it does silly things with the computer.

If it works, order a new battery.

Hope this helps,

Zenith TV power goes off

Hi, From what you have posted 2 possible things: 1. Cold solder - this proble is common in the power supply, vertical and horizantal circuitry. Look for any dull colored solder joints special in power components like high wattage resistor, regulator or output ICs or transistors; this problem also becomes apparent when the unit is jarred; and/or 2. Component heating up and failing - more often than not it is an active component like a power transistor or power IC that starts to fail when running after sometime (due to heat buildup) again anywhere the power, vertical, horizontal section. You would need an aeresol spray of contact cleaner to spray on the suspected component to lower its temperature when the TV starts to fail. You need to be familiar with soldering, use of a VOM, circuit analysis and component level repair to properly fix the problem. Further there are dangerous high voltages inside a TV unit even with the power off. Likewise, the unit has to be diagnosed, run, repaired and tested with the back cover off. With these in mind, you might be better off seeking the services of a qualified TV technician. Hope this gives you an idea of the problem. Pls post again how things work up your end. Good luck and kind regards.

Same as!

If you are saying that your computer works fine when using LINUX, but the same machine goes bonkers when you boot up with Windows, you have a virus or somethng going on there. A power supply isn't going to work for one OS and suddenly **** out because of another OS in use. You have a software problem. Hopefully you can get what data you want to save and then when doing an install do a hard format of the entire hard drive, you might want to even use something like Killdisk to completely over right the disk and then install windows.

This is caused by the touchpad zoom feature; when it is enabled, brushing the touchpad registers a pressing of the ctrl key. Disable touchpad zoom and this behavior should stop occurring.

Seems reasonable. Take the motherboard out of the case,  first to see if it will work outside of the case. Sometimes boards short to the ground due to a screw or other metal getting between them and the case. Try to run it with as little hardware hooked up as possible. You don't even need a hard drive to post the BIOS.

It is likely your power supply is failing. When you press your power button a signal goes through the motherboard to the power supply, then the PS comes on. I would try a replacement power supply first, you can get a used one for less than $20.
