Question about Acer Aspire 9300-3642 Notebook

2 Answers

Acer 9300-3642 will not boot up. I put it in sleep mode before I left this morning. Come home and will not boot. - The power light does come on. - I don't hear any sounds of the normal boot up process happening when I try to get it back on. - I took out the battery and unplugged it for about an hour. What am I missing?

I have not reseated the RAM or Hardrive.

The battery light is now on and the CD light does blink when I first turn it on. I usually hear a CD "boot up sound" after that but I don't hear that now.

I'm not sure how to take out the main battery...going to look up a diagram right now.

I've never removed an AC before but if the first steps you suggested don't work I'll try to figure that out.

Thanks so much for your time!

By the way, I did remove the hard drive and booted up as "cheap to fix" suggested, left the battery out and then plugged back in. That didn't work.

Going on to the next suggetion but thanks for trying! Appreciate it.

Oh Ok! Got your comment about removing plug. ;) Working on all that now. Looking for instructions on how to remove main battery yet. I see the two little "connectors" black and white...I assume I pop those off somehow but looking to make sure.

Ok I completed all your suggestions and still nothing.
I need the Waaahmulance! Am I screwed?

I would suggest pulling out the backup battery, main battery and AC adapter, then hold the power button in for about 10 seconds, reconnect your batteries / AC and try it, if that does not work remove the AC / ram and harddrive then reseat them, then plug it back in and try.

Does the battery light show that it is charging when plugged in? Do you notice if the cd drive lights up when turned on?

Acer one with windows 7 ultimate fall into sleep mode

A laptop computer is typically set to conserve battery power. One of the common settings called standby, sleep mode or hibernation turns off power to the screen and the laptop itself after a preset time limit passes without any mouse or keyboard activity. It can be inconvenient for the computer to shut down while you're working on an open page or during a download. Change the setting if you don't want your laptop to going into automatic shutdowns

Turn the laptop computer on with the power button if it's not set to turn on upon opening. Allow the system to boot up. Open the panel for adjusting the sleep settings. This varies among the popular versions of Windows operating systems. To change the sleep mode setting on a laptop running Windows XP, click the "Start" button, and click the "Control Panel" selection. Choose the "Performance and Maintenance" selection, and click on "Power Options." Click the "Power Schemes" tab, and click the drop downs next to "Turn Off Monitor," "Turn Off Hard Disk," "System Standby" and "System Hibernates." Select "Never" for each drop down in both the "Plugged in" and "Running on Battery Power" columns. Click the "Hibernate" tab and click to remove the check mark in the box next to "Enable Hibernation." To change the sleep settings on a Windows Vista laptop, click "Start," "Control Panel," "Systems and Maintenance" and "Power Options." Then click "Change Plan Settings" under the currently established plan. Click on the "Advanced Settings" tab and select the "Never" option on the "Sleep," "Sleep After," "Hibernate After," "Display" and "Turn off Display After" drop downs. Click the "OK" and "Save Changes" buttons to confirm the settings. To change the sleep settings on a laptop running Windows 7, click the "Start" button, choose "All Control Panel Items," select "Power Options" and click "Edit Plan Settings." Click the drop downs for "Turn off the Display" and "Put the Computer to Sleep." Choose "Never" for both and click the "Save Changes" button.

M15x gaming laptop screen wont come on after sleep mode or reboot. What can I do?

Looking at your last comment, it looks like you got it working??? Just an heads up, in the future, you might not want to put your laptop into sleep/standy mode while performing an update. If you lose power or have to do a hard shutdown you could corrupt the update and your PC might not boot back up.

This might sound a little stupid, but 1 is it plugged in when you put it sleep mode, and when u open the screen do you physically have to turn it back on. Sometimes when you put a computer in "sleep mode" and its not plugged in you lose power slowly

How to wake msi u130 from sleeping?tnx

If it is in sleep pressing any key or moving the mouse will generally wake it up. If you left the computer unplugged in sleep mode then it most likely ran out of power. If your using hibernate I would recommend not using it as it has so many issues.... :) If you have to hit the power button to wake it up then it's either shutdown or in hibernate. FYI there will generally be an amber light on to indicate sleep mode. If no lights it's most likely not in sleep mode.

Acer3000 yellow light solid and will not power on Help! Is this motherboard issues?

It's very possible you have motherboard issues. Hardware failures will often resemble the machine being stuck in "sleep mode". You can try a power "reset" in case it is stuck in sleep mode. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. If successful, the machine will boot (probably in safe mode) and you should be able to re-configure your power settings to disable sleep mode. If this doesn't work, you most likely have hardware issues and the motherboard is most likely the culprit.

Acer Aspire ZG5 Power Led showing yellow

Hibernation is the biggest creator of software nightmares...it has killed more computer systems and corrupted more systems than I can count. Go to control panel > power options and change your power settings in there. Turn hibernation off and just have the computer go to sleep after a certain time. You will find that the computer will come right back in sleep mode and will be ready for action. Don't worry about the system running until sleeping and then waking up, it's a lot better than finding your entire operating system is now corrupt and has to be re-installed.

When you turn on your laptop do you see the P.O.S.T screen or it just remains blank? and also while booting up do you get any beep sound?
Try to boot your computer in Safe Mode by Tapping F2 (or Del in few laptops) key after pushing Power Button.
