Question about JVC Televison & Video

Open Question

TV (JVC AV-27820) does not turn on. Clicking noise.

I need your help:

My TV set, AV-27820, does not turn on. I could hear a clicking noise once it is plugged into a power outlet. I've searched for solutions on this site with no promising fix due to my lack of knowledge with electronics; however, I am comfortable with soldering if required.

I have also photographed in high definition the board in the TV set. Should you wish to help me, I can send you, via email, these pictures as well as the service manual I found on the Internet. I simply need detailed guidance to resolve the problem.

I am a student without money to fix it or purchase a new one.
Any help is much appreciated.

Im sorry your having this trouble But I cant tell you whats wrong as I havent looked at the set. The problem could be a simple power supply problem or a cold solder connections in the horizontal sweep circuit. If your not a tech this is not a job for an experimenter or tinker . There is hi voltage in these sets even when they are unplugged so you are gonna need to call a pro in to assit you in this repair or geta new one > good Luck

shorted components causes continuous ticking/clicking sound from inside the set! it would really need a shop visit since you have no picture display! if you could trust the service person then it could be worth sending it to a shop!

The clicking you hear is probably caused by a relay that controls the incoming AC to the main power supply. This is a protective reaction to a problem in the power supply itself or an overload due to a failure downstream from the supply. This is not a likely DIY repair. You will probably need a technician to determine which of these two likely problems it is.

Clicking on the power supply board(no picture or sound)

If you hear a buzzing, humming or rapid clicking noises this could be a problem with your ballast.Might be a good idea though to pull out your lamp just ensure its not damaged. You can find these at discount-merchant.com

Will the JVC TV model AV-27820 mfg 1997 become obsolete i n February?

It will still work fine if you have cable or satellite. If you are using an antenna to receive broadcast signal you will need to get a digital converter box from an electronics store like Best Buy. You can get discount coupons from the federal government good for 40 dollars towards the converter. Google "Digital Covnverter Coupon Program" and it should give you a link to the site to apply for up to 2 coupons.

Best wishes
