You went on the web to post your question, why not use the web to go to the manufacturers web site for your remote that your trying to program and get the codes for it.

The PIP may only work with an external tuner or source (VCR, DVD, CATV box, etc) If your TV doesnt say "dual tuner" then you need an external source for the PIP (Use a VCR and its tuner for instance)

These units have particularly bad reliability and generally fail far before the usual ten year life of regular TV's. You don't say how old this unit is but judging by the model number and nature of the problem (power supply trouble) I would not recommend spending money on repairing this unit.

I have had on order since December 2007 the Akai replacement remote #WIR3500001-EQ01 the Akai TV/DVD combo model #CFTD2011. I called each month for 5 months, being told each time that it was on backorder. A few days ago, I received a letter in the mail stating that this remote is no longer made and is not available.

I too have tried universal remotes without any luck. If anyone has a resolution, it would be greatly appreciated.
