Epson Printer C84. Purchased and installed new ink, did nozzel cleaning, but no ink will print onto the paper. The printer had been hooked up to the computer but had not been used for a few months. Need help in making the printer put ink on the paper. If the nozel is plugged, how Do I clean it so that it will print. Is there a way to unplug the nozel.

  • kaydacarp Mar 11, 2009

I have done a nozel clean, as instructed in the manual but the ink, still will not print onto the paper. Paper goes through the printer and it acts like it is printing, but no ink. If the nozel is clogged with old ink how do I remove the old ink and get the printer to work.

  • kaydacarp Mar 11, 2009

I don't see anyway that I can unscrew the nozols, or pull them out so that I could blow them clean. this is an Epson Styles C84 printer and I don't see how I can take it apart to clean.

Before proceeding with further troubleshooting you need to reinstall the updated driver for your printer.

Download and install the software from the page below, and let us know if this fixed the problem.

Use a can of compressed air to blow out nozzles. You may be able to pull or unscrew them from the head. Also, make sure all your drivers and programs are updated and installed.

If you have new ink cartriges, than the problem is either with the toner or the printers programming. Can you do a test print? You can try and clean ink jets with rubbing alcohol and q-tip/cotton swab. Let completely dry before testing.

I would try cleaning head, cartridge, and nozzles with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. Otherwise you could always try installing new components which I know you probably don't want to do but would probably resolve the issue.

also you can stick a thin sewing needle in the nozzle to remove or break up the clog

How did it turn out? You can also get cleaning instructions from the epson suppor site as well

Printer Epson DX6000 ... all new cartridges .... will not print any text. I can print the head clean test page as well as the head alignment page ... but no text

You said all new cartridges.. But are they Epson Genuine Cartridges???? I had the same problem when I replaced with new, but generic cartridges.
After finally, going thru 2 sets of each, removed them and put in Genuine., and finally, everthing started printing fine. Weird , but true.
I suggested my answer problem below.

Re: C84 I'm using generic ink, but the red
By mclamemo on Nov 12, 2009 re: C84 I'm using generic ink, but the red doesn't work at all. I've done all the printer cleaning programs and swabbed inside the printer with alcohol, and re-inserted the cartridge multiple times. it still doesn't print at all.

Also now even the black every few lines prints the top half of the line or the bottom half of the line, or its smeared, etc...

I have learned from experience, that Epson does not like generic ink. You must use Epson Genuine Cartridges. Hopefully, you haven't screwed up the printer, like I did. I did try cleaning the heads and doing everything possible. Use 2 cartridges of ech set, for cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. ......But Nothing.
Had to go out and purchase a new printer.;

My epson stylus c84 prints, but there's no ink on the paper

This might sound stupid, but did you remove the plastic film that covers the head?
Try this, if still nothing happens, go through your printer settings and run a "Cleaning" cycle on it.

Not printing - just replaced ink cartridges

Reseat the cartridges.
Do 3 consecutive head cleanings.

New ink in printer but will not put ink on paper.

It sounds like blocked nozzles to me, providing you're SURE you have good cartridges, properly installed (you did take the yellow plastic tapes off the vents before you installed the cartridges of course).

You can try soaking the print heads for 24 hours (or more), as follows. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves out of its parking position, pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head by hand fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Do not turn the printer on at any stage in this process. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then turn the printer on and try a head clean/nozzle check again. If nothing, repeat the process once more. If still nothing, post a new comment detailing what you have done and the results

Epson c84 printer not printing after installing new ink cartidges

Hi, Linda
You may buy cartriges of different producers.
Depending on producer on them can be or be not special yellow detachable labels.
These are an yellow labels must be removed from them. Then put cartridges back. And try to clean head 4-5 times. And check nozzle test.
Good luck.

Not printing

If you've just bought a C84 today then you've been sold a second (or even third) hand unit which is clogged solid.

To resolve this you're going to need to clean the printheads which is something I've described here

It's a different printer but the same process applies.

Hope that helps.

Epson C82 & C84 Printers will not laydown any ink!

Sorry but It uses Durabrite ink which tends to turn into hard gel if not printed at least once a week. Its less painful and expensive to just throw the printer out and buy a new one. I recommend the canon PIXMA ip3500. It lets you remove the printhead for cleaning unlike the Epson. If you want to try your luck at unclogging the printer heres a link to a unclogging kit but be warned that results are not guaranteed!

http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/kits/Epson/K89

The C82 in addition to clogging also has a problem where the waste ink hose which is supposed to remove excess ink (so the printer dosent get clogged) gets disconnected and so the printer clogs even more. The C84 had this glitch fixed but alot of good that did!

Thanks for reading!

Does not print on paper but with new ink replaced

proably is the nozzle in printhead clogged by dry ink because you dont use genuine ink from epson and i suggest a replacement of the head because it is almost impossible to clean it out

BIG PROBLEM

If any of the ink cartridges are needing to be replaced, the Epson C84 will not print, you will have to change the cartridge, if you lift up the printer lid the carrier will stop at the empty ink colour.
