Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop

1 Answer

I have n Acer Aspire 3680-2682 and I've added a Sierra Wireless air card. The problem is-AT&T had to replace the air card, and I need to remove the original commmunication manager programs, but add/remove will not let me do this. Keeps giving me the message that the "feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." What do I do? Help. I really need to use the air card.

There are many reasons why wireless doesn’t work but lets look at it step by step

How it works is that there’s a card inside your laptop which detects networks “wireless only” that are in your house and near you like neighbours.

The most common mistake is “the button” there is bound to be a button either
On the side, the rear, the front of the laptop or even near the keyboard it usually has
A dot with signal lines that button switch on and off the wireless device so make sure its on and then wait 10 second for the signal to appear.

There is no button? Right then there’s a keyboard shortcut to switch it on and off
You must first press and hold the “fn” button or the function button then find the wireless key which is either “f8” or “f4” it varies from model to another but it always has the wireless logo on it and it is always one of the f keys.

Didn’t help? It could be you’re running multiple utilities to run your wireless, you either have to use windows utility which is normaly in your task bar but if that’s not working then another utility is using it, so find in your programs list “wireless utility” or “belkin utility” which usually does the same.

Didn’t help? Its getting more serious, makesure your driver is installed for the wireless, if you go to the device manager and then to the network area and there makesure your wireless drvice is enabled “no red cross on it” or else if you cant find a wireless device in there then it means your wireless card is faulty and need an expert looking at it.

It is good practice to re-install the wireless driver to fix most issues.

Trying to activate my wireless connection for my acer acer aspire x1300 do I need a disk or can I press certain buttons to activate the wireless

The aspire Acer Aspire x1300 does not come standard with wireless. If you have added wireless capabilities, your hardware should have come with a disk containing drivers for your wireless device. If it didn't I would look up the manufacture's site and find the support or drivers download page.

Wher is wifi card located on Acer aspire 1355LC

Several models of the Acer Aspire One netbook are on the market, but each version is based on the same chassis. The method of replacing the Aspire One's wireless card is the same for each model. Though replacing the wireless card with a newer card is a simple process, opening the Aspire One and removing the original hardware may void the manufacturer or store warranty.

Place the Acer Aspire One face-down on a flat surface so that the bottom is facing upwards. Remove the six screws with a Philips screwdriver; three are located in the battery compartment, and the other three are located under the speakers. Place the screws in a cup to avoid losing them. Turn the Aspire One over so that the bottom is facing down. Open the lid so that the keyboard is exposed. Identify three small black tabs above the "F2," "F8" and "Print Screen" buttons. Depress each tab with a straight screwdriver. Lift the top of the keyboard with a straight screwdriver after the tabs have been depressed. Pull the keyboard forward towards the screen, then lift it free of the chassis. Disconnect the keyboard's ribbon connection by gently prying the plastic clip away from the ribbon with your fingernail or a straight screwdriver. Set the keyboard aside. Remove the six screws holding the top half of the Acer's chassis to the motherboard. Gently pry the chassis upwards; a series of plastic clips holds it to the bottom half of the chassis. Press each clip with a straight screwdriver until the top half of the chassis lifts free. Set it aside and place the screws in a cup to avoid losing them. Remove the metal plate covering the wireless card; it is located in the bottom right side of the motherboard and held in place with two screws. Set the plate aside and place the screws in a cup. Disconnect the wireless card by pulling the two wires holding it in place upwards. Slide the wireless card forward out of the slot it's in and set it aside. Slide the new wireless card into the slot, then plug the two wires into the new card, reversing the actions you used to remove the old card. Place the metal plate over the new wireless card and screw it in place. Place the chassis over the motherboard, carefully align it with the bottom half of the chassis, and then firmly press down onto it until the tabs snap back into place. Replace the screws into the six screw slots. Place the keyboard over the chassis. Lift the ribbon connector and slide the ribbon into the slot. Press the ribbon connector into the 'locked' position, then slide the keyboard into place and press firmly to snap the tabs into place. Turn the Acer Aspire One upside down and replace the screws that were removed from the bottom of the netbook. Not sure if this your specific laptop it might give you some insight into replacing or troubleshooting it.

Have you configured the Belkin wireless router?
You need to configure the Belkin using a 10baseT network cable first before you configure the wireless card.

To make your wireless router secure you need to use your browser and type in the Belkin IP configuration address.
Then you need to change the Admin password, change SSID and turn off SSID broadcast, setup the encryption (use WAP or WAP2 if your wireless card supports WAP) and for added protection use MAC address filtering.
