IP address is the same, didnt change?

  • mithrandi13 May 11, 2010

at any point were you trying to load a custom firmware on it? Make sure it's still using the same gateway address by going to control panel->network connections->double click on the wireless connection->support tab and seeing what the default gateway is. it should still be 192.168.1.1 but if not go to the address it mentions there. Also you can try reseting the router by holding down the small pin button on the back of the router to see if that fixes things, but it'll reset all your setting when you do that.

It could be that your IP address of the router changed.
If you are using windows start cmd window and type: ipconfig.
When the result is displayed look for line 'Default gateway'.
Type those numbers in your browser prefixed with http://

In order to change D-Link router password, type the address into your browser's URL field and press 'Enter' to launch the D-Link router's menu screen. Then, enter the D-Link current password into the text field named password and click on the 'log in' button. Navigate to the 'Tools' option at the bottom of the screen and then select the 'Admin' button at the left end of the window. Scroll down to the 'Admin Password' title and enter the new password you want to use in the password field. Then click the 'Save Settings' button to save the D-Link router's new password.

Hello there, need to know how to config a phone line modem Zhone 6381 I guess its called the Zhone 6381-Ax Router. I happen to prees the reset button and losst the programed IP. how can I go about...

To configure your router, make sure you are connected to it first, open your web browser. Ignore any error about lacking a connection. Type the default IP address (192.168.1.1) into the Location field of your browser and press the Enter key. The following screen appears.

greed03_10.png

The default user name is Admin and the password is Admin. Both are case-sensitive.

Note: You should have your PCs configured for DHCP mode (if your router will be), and have proxies disabled on your browser. If you see a login redirection screen when you access the web interface, verify that JavaScript support is enabled in your browser. Also, if you do not get the screen shown above, you may need to delete your temporary Internet files.

The first screen that appears after the log in screen is the Home page.

From this screen you can configure the LAN and WAN connections, configure the router's security, routing, and filtering, access debugging tools, obtain the status of the router, and view the online help.

From here, go to the Setup Tab and click the New Connection on the left.

Input your numbers and don't forget to save.

Hope this helps!

I tried to reset my Linksys Wireless Router WRT54G and nothing happened. No lights came on or nothing. I also tried to press the power button on the front and that did nothing. It is plugged up correctly...

Reset Button is at the back of the router beside the internet port

To reset your router, use the following steps:
  1. Press the reset button for 30 seconds.
  2. The settings should now be returned to the factory default settings, meaning any changes you had made would be deleted.
  3. Open up your Web browser and enter “192.168.1.1′ in the address bar.
  4. For the login, leave a blank ID and enter “admin” as the password.
If it still does not work

Try Soft Reset

Use the following steps to reset the router using this method:
  1. Open your Web browser and enter the IP address of your router. By default, the address is “192.168.1.1′.
  2. Enter your user ID And password when prompted. Hopefully this has been changed, but if it hasn’t, the default is no ID and “admin” as the password.
  3. At the top of the Web page, click “Administration” and then “Factory Defaults”.
  4. Beside “Restore Factory Defaults”, click “Yes”.
  5. Now click the “Save Settings” button at the bottom of the Web page

New computer; can't find original installation disk

You should not need an installation disc.

Connect your PC to the router with a network cable and type 192.168.1.1 into the browser adddress bar. This will connect you to the router setup and maintenance screen, from where you can configure the router. If necessary you can reset it to factory settings and enter a new password.

You can then disconnect your cable and use it wirelessly.

Trouble getting my router to go to wireless

A few things to look at:

1) On the front of the router, is the wireless LED lit up?
2) If it is not then it is either disabled or dead. Connect the router to your pc by cable and in a browser window enter 192.168.1.1.
3) At the login screen enter admin for the user and password for the password.
4) Once you are logged in, use the wizard to setup your wireless connection.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa

Configuration Issue

If the router is working in other respects, you probably don't need a new one. I wonder if this isn't a firewall problem, or if some other service is keeping you from this page? Try re-booting in safe mode (With networking), then enter the url and see if you get to the router page. For most computers, you can get to safe mode by repeatedly pressing the F8 key when you re-boot. Just keep tapping the key until you see the screen that offers safe mode (With networking).
