Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have 2 problems both mac related Problem 1 I have been using Parallels on my Imac for some time. And have not been happy with it. So I decided to switch to VM Fusionware. I installed VM Fusionware on my imac. I got it up and running. Works good. I was going to install my windows stuff on it when I saw you could import your parallels content into VM Fusionware. So I did.Everything was imported exactly right loved it. Then later when I went to enter VMFusion it loaded the original installation.. not the one I imported. So I figure I have to VM running (3 if you count the parallels I left on my imac). I want to delete the first VM fusion and only use the second. The other is a problem with Itunes. I moved my 57GB itunes library to my Lacie External Firewire Dr. I selected in preferences for Itunes to loo on the LaCie. Even so all my songs have exclamation points and indicate the song cannont be found. Even though the library is intact. So I copied it back to my MACHD and now still have the same problem cant find the songs..showing exclamation points.

Wow... That is just bad Luck.
Your Files on Itunes are corrupted or just not there. i'm not sure how. your LaCie drive may have had a virus or some other such thing. try loading the files back on to your computer again, and make sure you put the files in the correct folder. one thing that worked for me when my itunes library failed, was when you copy the music files onto your computer, double click the the actual file icon, as if you wanted toplay them. this will tell itunes that the file still exists (and it may also play the song). your Parrellels problem is strange. i think that, like you mentioned, you may have to delete the previous VM installation, so to revert to the one you imported.
Good Luck...

HOW LONG DO YOU EXPECT YOUR COMPUTER TO LAST BEFORE SOMETHING BREAKS DOWN.I PURCHASED MY DESK TOP COMPUTER ON 13.01/2009 RECENTLY I HAVE HAD TO HAVE A REPAIR AND IT COST ME £45 to rectify it as...

Sorry Margaret, but I think you've come to the wrong place.

To complain to Packard Bell you'd have to go to their website:-

Start here:- http://www.packardbell.com/index.html

Then you need to follow support for support and/contact us to vent your spleen.

This is just an advice website, where, you can post a problem and someone tries to help you fix it your self.

I've always thought Packard Bell a good company, but £163/$163 is lot of money for a computer repair, unless the motherboard failed.

I'm pretty lucky, knowing a bit I can usually fix mine cheaply, but I do have a DELL which must be about 10 years old which has just died a death, being used for spares now. I also have an Amiga which must be 20 years old now.

The trouble with Dell, I believe like Packard Bell, is that they use proprietary parts, which can only be replaced by them and usually expensive.

Next time go for a generic computer, the parts manufacturers are usually the same, but they're used in loads of different make computers making spares cheaper.

Hope this helps a bit.

While trying to install OS10.5 and it will attempt to but it freezes, you the Apple booting circle it stops.

Probably the OS 10.5 version your're installing is not compatible or supported by the system motherboard of your computer model Apple Power Mac G5. per my research from Apple website herewith is their solution quote on what applicable OS to install for such model: "Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) and iMac G5 (iSight) models require Mac OS X 10.4.2 or later, you can t install Final Cut Pro 3.x or earlier versions on these computers. Final Cut Pro 3.x and earlier versions are not supported on any computer running Mac OS X 10.4". best regards

Problem with our Apple Macs shutting down

A quoted suggestion from my Mac Guru: "They need to turn off the Energy saver preferences for processor cycling and hard drive spin down. They would actually be better off turning them down anyway since the G5 duals run really hot and aren't the most reliable model Apple ever shipped for motherboards failing."

As for the iMac 99, It would be more helpful to know what OS the unit is running. I remember hearing a story about a disgruntled employee putting the 'shut down app' in the start up items folder. This caused the Mac to start as normal and then shut down after the startup was complete. Try starting up the machine with the extensions off. 'Hold down the shift key at startup'
