Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

This is for an HP Photosmart 3310 all in one. The display shows message Ink System Failure Error 0xc18a0206. Tried the troubleshooting steps on HP website: remove ink cartridges, unplug printer from electric and usb cable after 2 minutes plug back in and turn on. Let printer prompt me to add cartridges. I put in all brand new cartridges an then I tried printing a test page. The error comes up again and the test page is canceled.

Why am I getting the Ink System Failure message when I just replaced the ink cartridges on my HP Photosmart C7280 all-in-one?

I just answered a question exactly like this -- to Anonymous. Was that you? Here is the answer I provided:

Hopefully, this link will take you to the proper troubleshooting page.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c03081973&lc=en&product=3204785&tmp_track_link=ot_search#N213

You'll click on the third plus sign on the page (+) because your message DOES include the words "ink system failure."

From there, you'll choose, by looking at the pictures, whether your printer has a removable print head.

You'll click on the appropriate answer -- yes it does, or no it doesn't,

Then, you'll identify which print cartridges your system uses, and THAT will take you to the proper troubleshooting steps for your printer's specific configuration.

The fix may be something you've already tried -- turning off the printer and unplugging it (but did you unplug it from BOTH the unit AND the wall, and then did you wait at least 15 seconds? be sure to follow the specific instructions for powering down), or the fix may be to service the printer.

Good luck! :)

I recieve Ink System failure error message with error code 0xc18a0206 on my HP PHOTOSMART C7180 ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER.

The error that you are having is a hardware issue, it means your printer has an Ink System Failure. Believe me, there's no use going through troubleshooting for this one. Call HP and just Upgrade your printer. HP Printer Tech Support would be more than happy in giving you discounts and an extra year of warranty for $1.00.

Have a hp 3310 it says ink system failure error 0xc18a0106 it wont print, scan, copy and it does have enough ink. thank 4 ur help

Turn off the machine using the power button, unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the ink cartridges, wait 2 min, plug the power cord back in, press the on button, wait until the printer prompts that the ink cartridges are missing, then replace the ink cartridges. If this doesn't clear the error then you may need to re-prime ink through the system to clear the error. There are good instructions for doing this at http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/hp-photosmart-ink-system-failure-1/.
