You probably called their customer support or billing, which know nothing about technical stuff.

Wi-fi is completely independent from the cellular network, so it will not charge you anything. Wi-fi just connects to a wireless router, like the one in your home, if you have one. In other words it connects to the internet via someones home/office internet connection. I have a touch diamond and dont have a data plan, and only use wifi, works great..BUT:

If you do not have a data plan (pay as you go data) with Bell, IMMEDIATELY get a 'data block' on your phone, at first they might say oh it will not let you use some functions, etc, put insist, persist, and use force if neccesary as they dont like giving you a data block..It costs about $50 per mb if you use the pay per use internet! I think that was the 1X, but im not sure, its ridiculously high!

HOW TO CHANGE THE INTERNET SETTINGS IN THE HTC WILDFIRE A3333

Wi-Fi provides wireless Internet access over distances of up to 100 meters (00 feet).

To use Wi-Fi on your phone, you need access to a wireless access point or "hotspot". The availability
and range of the Wi-Fi signal depends on the number, infrastructure, and other objects
through which the signal passes.

Turning Wi-Fi on and connecting to a wireless network
From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless & networks.
Select the Wi-Fi check box to turn Wi-Fi on. The phone then scans for available wireless
networks.

Tap Wi-Fi settings. The network names and security settings of detected Wi-Fi networks
are displayed in the Wi-Fi networks section.
If the wireless network you want to connect to is not in the list of detected networks,
scroll down the screen, and then tap Add Wi-Fi network. Enter the wireless network
settings, and then tap Save.

Tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
If you selected an open network, you will be automatically connected to the network.
If you selected a network that is secured with WEP, enter the key and then tap
Connect.

Depending on the network type and its security settings, you may also need to enter more information
or choose a security certificate.
When your phone is connected to a wireless network, the Wi-Fi icon appears in the
status bar and tells you the approximate signal strength (number of bands that light up).
The next time your phone connects to a previously accessed secured wireless network, you
will not be prompted to enter the key or other security information again, unless you reset
your phone to its factory default settings.

Is there an application that provides internet free, without wi-fi ?

Unless the area you are residing has a free wi-fi you can avail the internet facility without paying for the service. However in most wifi centers you need to get a password to log on to the router except in restricted campus. so check this out .

How do i upgrade my htcp3300 so i can use the internet

Your phone is a Windows Mobile 5 device with wi-fi and 3G WAP capability, so does not need upgrading to use the internet.

You can browse the internet a free public wi-fi hotspots. If you want wider web availability, then you need to arrange a data connection with a service provider which you'll need to pay for. If you stay with your current service provider then they will either send you a new SIm or will send the necessary updates directly to your current SIM.

However, from direct experience of my old HTC P3600 which used the same O.S. and had similar specifications, you will find that using the internet is painfully slow and that many pages simply will not work at all. You also won't be able to use any useful modern apps and social networking sites will be totally unsuited or unacceptably awkward to use on your phone.

I'd therefore strongly suggest that you try the wi-fi option first to see how you get on, and if you like it and consider paying for a data connection to bear in mind that in a hotspot you'll be enjoying a far faster experience than you will when using a good 3G connection on your current handset.

I dont understand how to log on internet

You can log to internet in two ways:
1. if you are nearby a wireless network : menu->settings->wireless&networks->Wi-Fi ( you shall be connected only if the network has no password or if you know the network's password)
2. if you payed for mobile internet at your phone provider:
menu->settings->wireless&networks->mobile network (only after you've setup your mobile network)

What is wi fi whats does it do

Hi,

Wi-Fi stands for wireless fidelity. The term Wi-Fi, which is alternatively pushed by the Wi-Fi Alliance, a trade group that pioneered commercialization of the technology. Wi-Fi is mostly about connecting to the Internet without physically attaching your computer to anything. Mostly it's about using laptop computers.

A Wi-Fi enabled device such as a personal computer, video game console, mobile phone, MP3 player or personal digital assistant can connect to the Internet when within range of a wireless network connected to the Internet. The coverage of one or more (interconnected) access points — called a hotspot — can comprise an area as small as a few rooms or as large as many square miles. Coverage in the larger area may depend on a group of access points with overlapping coverage. Wi-Fi technology has been used in wireless mesh networks, for example, in London.

In addition to private use in homes and offices, Wi-Fi can provide public access at Wi-Fi hotspots provided either free-of-charge or to subscribers to various commercial services. Organizations and businesses - such as those running airports, hotels and restaurants - often provide free-use hotspots to attract or assist clients. Enthusiasts or authorities who wish to provide services or even to promote business in selected areas sometimes provide free Wi-Fi access.
Routers that incorporate a digital subscriber line modem or a cable modem and a Wi-Fi access point, often set up in homes and other premises, can provide Internet-access and internetworking to all devices connected (wirelessly or by cable) to them. One can also connect Wi-Fi devices in ad-hoc mode for client-to-client connections without a router. Wi-Fi also enables places that would traditionally not have network access to connect, for example bathrooms, kitchens and garden sheds.

Good luck and have a nice day.
rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Wi-fi

No, wifi is completely seperate from the cellular network. It will not cost you anything, but will depend on whether or not there are wireless routers/networks near you and if they are secured (with a password) or not. Wi-Fi is basically a home/office internet connection, just wireless.

For example, all starbucks has 'wi-fi'.

If you don't have a data plan for your phone, get a data block immediately from Bell. They dont like giving data blocks, and they say some functions wont work but they mean stuff that connects to the internet, which will cost you if you wifi isn't connected since it defaults to the cellular providers internet. It cost be about $12 for less than half a MB of usage. Their rate per MB is more than $50, im not kidding.. just checked my bill. If you just got the phone you can get the charges reversed just say you didn't know it would connect to the cellular web and that it cost so much etc etc. They should be lenient if you just got the phone etc...
