Kenmore Dryer he4 won't start

Those fuses are put there for a reason and should never be bypassed. If something happens you have a short it could kill you or cause a fire and we would not like to see that happen. There has to be a reason for this fuse to blow and should not be bypassed. Sorry

Dryer won't run

Start from scratch, hook every thing back up, do not bypass the thermal fuses for your issue, all you are bypassing is the heater element.
Unplug the unit, check the breaker, then the cord for burning. then come back and will take you to the next step.

Kenmore HE5 dryer won't start

Several different problems could prevent your dryer from running. Make sure that the door is firmly closed and hold down the start button for a couple of seconds to start the dryer. If you hear a click from the control board then the door switch and the control board are likely okay. You could have a blown thermal fuse or a broken belt in the dryer. To check these components, unplug the dryer and remove the bottom front service panel as shown in the first image below. With this panel removed, you can tell whether the drive belt is broken. If the drive belt is okay, I recommend checking the thermal fuse. This fuse is located on the blower housing as shown in the second image below. It will have light blue wires attached. To test the fuse, remove one wire and measure the resistance across the leads of the fuse with a volt/ohm meter. You should measure near zero ohms of resistance (continuity). If you measure infinite resistance, then the fuse is blown and will need to be replaced. You can verify that this is your failure by taping the contacts of the light blue wires together with electrical tape to "bypass" the thermal fuse. Reassemble the dryer and see if the motor runs with this fuse bypassed. If it does, then this verifies that the blown thermal fuse prevented the dryer from running and that this was the only failure. NOTE: Do not continue to run the dryer beyond this brief test with the thermal fuse bypassed. This component must be replaced. It is an important safety feature of the dryer.

You can order a new thermal fuse from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number is 3392519.

Amana dryer model YNED7200TW will not start. there is power, but start button does nothing. Resetting breaker did not work. Any ideas?

Thermal Fuse

Item #2986 (OEM Part)
$10.70

Thermal fuse. If the dryer overheats, this device stops the flow of electricity to the heat source and/or the entire dryer. It is located on the blower housing and cannot be reset. The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.

Do not think yet of purchasing new dryer nor calling a service person as this may be a simple problem and you can fix it yourself. You may only need to replace some components as this type of problem is usually caused by a blown thermal fuse which is wired in series with the motor. When it blows, power to the motor is terminated causing the motor not to run. No dryer function works then when the motor cannot run.

The thermal fuse is located on the blower housing along with the cycling thermostat. Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse. The blower housing is located on the front left bottom of the dryer cabinet for the dryers with lint filter on the front or at the rear left bottom if the lint filter is located on the top of the cabinet.

Bypass the thermal fuse by disconnecting the wires and connecting them together. Insulate the connection properly and plug the dryer back in. The thermal fuse is indeed blown and needs to be replaced including the cycling thermostat if the dryer starts. NEVER use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards. The thermal fuse and the cycling thermostat costs about $35.

Let us know if the problem is not addressed above or if you need further advice but indicate the exact model number of the machine for further advice.

This is a common problem caused by the thermal fuse blown. The thermal fuse is wired in series with the motor and will cause the motor not running if it blows. It is located on the blower housing at the rear of the dryer. Remove the rear panel to access the thermal fuse.

Once the rear panel is off, refer to the diagram and locate the thermal fuse on the blower housing. Disconnect the thermal fuse wires and tape them together or jump a wire between them. Insulate them properly then plug the dryer in and start the dryer.

The thermal fuse (part number 3392519) is indeed blown and needs to be replaced including the cycling thermostat, (part number 3387134) also on the blower housing if the dryer start starts and works fine with the thermal fuse bypassed. Do not use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards.

Feel free to update us about the result and development of the troubleshooting. Let us know of you need further assistance regarding the issue with your dryer. Rate the solution if you find it helpful.
