Question about Yamaha DSP-A1000 5-Channel Amplifier

1 Answer

I have a Yamaha Natural Sound Stereo Receiver RX-750 (purchased maybe around 1992-1993?). The input selector switch doesn't seem to be working properly. No matter which input I select, the sound is fuzzy and static-y. If I giggle the knob or press it in tightly, the sound will sometimes clear up, but often goes right back to fuzzy as soon as I remove my fingers. I have to keep playing with the knob until I finally get clear sound. Can this be repaired on a unit so old? Is this unit worth repairing? (It was quite expensive when I bought it.) Can I repair it myself if I get parts? How difficult? Thanks!

    robotek,
Thanks for the assistance! I successfully removed the cover from the stereo and the knob from the front. However, with those removed, I am in unfamiliar territory. Where do I squirt the CRC 2-26? I am assuming it would be on the side of the front panel where the knob was removed, not from the back side. However, looking inside the hole where I took the knob off, I'm not sure where to start squirting. Here are photos:

Hi cfipp
You could fix this problem with a quick squirt of CRC 2-26 into the function selector switch connected to the knob you are wriggling. This will sort out the problem. If you need further advice, feel free to ask me. I will help you.

Hey no worries, the last photo of the internals shows you. The metal clad box behind the selector switch. If you can spray(literally flood) the switch with short bursts of CRC using the plastic extension straw. whilst operating the function selector switch. It is a good idea to do this with the lid removed and the amp sitting on one end. Beware as some of the spray will run out of the unit. Newspaper underneith it is a good idea. I generally do this with the lid off, a signal and speakers connected to "hear" removing the crackle. If you are not familair with mains voltage equipment, then I suggest that you DO NOT have it turned on whilst messing about with the lids off. . Good Luck! Let me know how you go.

Oh, and you need to spray the CRC into the selector switch at or via the slots and any holes/opening in the metal casing around it(last picture, device behind the front panel selector shaft, about middle of the last photo. . You cannot get to it from the front panel as the .

I just ordered a new selector switch. I can't find any replacement video in Youtube so I am not sure how easy to do it myself. If not easy I may cancel the order. Please reply soon.

I cannot figure out how to connect the Yamaha natural sound av receiver rx-v463 to the TV. I cannot get sound out of the receiver. What cords do I need?

If you want to listen your TV on your Stereo system thru your receiver,
** you need to connect "Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your TV
** to "AUX input " or "Any input" of your receiver ( except Phone ) or "Optic Cable input"
** than just switch to respective mode on RECEIVER corresponding your RCA or Optic connection...
There you go..Your TV sound is on the Receiver..

Take care and please

I dont know how to connect the wii to my rx-465 receiver.

The Wii AV cable should have a red/white pair of Audio Output jacks on it.
Check out pg. 8 of the Wii manual: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/downloads/WiiOpMn_setup.pdf
Connect the red/white RCA plugs from the AV cable to a line level audio input on your receiver. If you use AUX IN, then select AUX IN on the INPUT selector switch. You should then hear the sound from the Wii through your receiver/home theater system.

I want to connect a phono turntable to my RX V550. any suggestions?

No can do without an intervening phono preamp.

Check out eBay for one or, if you still have an older stereo receiver with a Phono input hanging around, use it to preamplify the TT and run an RCA pair from the Tape Out to any available stereo input on your Yamaha.

Yamaha RX-V2700 no sound from any speaker outputs

Make sure that you have the correct input signal selected.
Also, check if the sound is not muted.
If you have a multi-room speaker switch, make sure it is set correctly to main speakers.

We want to hook up eight speakers in eight differnet rooms (one speaker per room with individual volume control) and hook them up with yamaha RX-V1800 receiver so that we can play all the speakers in...

Hi...
Without a huge mess, I would suggest one of the multi-speaker selectors that partsexpress.com sells or a similar item.
Just put "speaker slector" in their search engine.

If youre going to 8 other rooms..you might try a couple of wireless speaker systems too. They work in stereo and ....no wires
