Question about Linksys Rangeplus Wireless Pc Adapter

No internet access with new Linksys wireless PCI Adapter

I recently purchased a Linksys Range Plus Wireless PCI Adapter Model No. WMP 110. to access internet in my bedroom. In the living room is the router: Linksys Model No. BEFW 11S4.
PC is a Sony Vaio PCV RS420. I used to have it connected internet via cable. No I have gone wireless.
I installed the new wireless adapter in the one remaining slot in my Vaio. I properly installed the Linksys software. I noted my neighbors wireless connection and my own proper one. I selected mine with appropriate password. It now shows that I have a signal that goes from being strong to no connection at all. Like a spastic on and off switch. However even when the signal is strong I can never connect with the internet using explorer or Mozilla.

I have been told I need to download .bin files from Linksys. The problem is my vaio running Windows XP home version service pak 1 hasnt a clue where to go for the application for .bin files.

Any suggestions please?

By the way I have brought the computer downstairs to my linksys router and hooked it up the old way with a cable for now and it works fine of course.

Thanks so much! I reinstalled the software and this time it prompted me for the Key # to my set up. It didnt ask me this before. Once I typed in the Key # I was ready to go! Thanks very much!

Don .bin is a firmware that can upload to the linksys router or any router.

So it seems that your unable to connect wirelessly using the linksys adapter? The Internet connection before is working properly?

*I might advise you to reinstall the driver of your wireless adapter using the latest driver that you can download in there support site.

- Check the Internet connection hardwired to the router if connection works it seems that problem is on the adapter.

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

I'm unable to connect to the internet using my linksys wireless-g pci adapter to a Netgear router. It lists the router in the wireless network range, but cannot connect to it. Suggestions?

Go into the network settings through the browser. Go the where you change the "Channel" the router is transmitting with and change that to channel 6, instead of automatic. If you can access to router but not the internet, go to internet options through the browser and go to the connection tab and uncheck the box that deals with proxy server. That box should be unchecked and the box for automatically detect settings should be checked.

I believe you are too far away range wise. Here is an idea that has worked for me in the past. Get as close to the neighbor router as possible. Stay there and get a really good connection so that the PC remembers your establishment. Then attempt again from your original spot. This may just do it. Otherwise a booster is the next step.

TrueMobile won't connect to my network

Over the past few months I have seem more of this issue. I am beginning to think that there may be Microsoft updates that could be conflicting with the wireless network adapter config. But this is only a speculation.

In the mean time, you may have a faulty wireless card. If the unit is under warranty, have Dell replace it. If not, you could disable the internal one and purchase a Linksys Wireless G or N USB adapter from Staples....just to rule it out.

Lost the Driver for Linksys PCI wireless adapter, model wmp 54g

Go to your Device Manager and on the right side look and find Network Adapters. Expand the Network Adapter by clicking on it so you can see your Wireless Network Adapter. If it has a yellow exclamation on it then you need to install the correct driver, if it doesn have that exclamation the it may already have the correct driver. It may also be disabled ( red X) so enable it.

Check the wireless connection properties. On the "General" tab and in the middle look for and find "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" . Highlight it and click "properties". Make sure here that if you have set-up your router to connection type of DHCP that "Obtain IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are the only ones checked.

Linksys Wireless-N pci adapter model wmp300n

If it says local or unidentified network that means you are just connected to the router on the network but not through the internet. Try to go to manage wireless network, remover your network there and add it again, connect to your own network and make sure to type the correct network key., then check again. You can also try connecting to other wireless network to further isolate the problem.
