Question about RTO Ariston Gl4.0 Instantaneous Electronic Water Heaters

1 Answer

Someone gave me an RTO Ariston Gl4.0 Instantaneous Electronic Water Heater, I installed it in my shop. I only seem to get whatever is in the tank and it's only warm. The warm water quickly turns cold so, the on-demand part is not working or not working very well, any ideas?

This heater is what I call a quick recover unit.If heat is not wire right it won't heat the fast enough. You said it only heat what in the tank.It has to have a thermostat and I would guess some type of relay or contacter to make the power to the elements.

You can fix this water heater yourself, or buy another under-counter water heater if tank is leaking because anode depleted.

I have a Ariston Pro TI water heater. I am getting a lot of rust/junk/green/black, particals in the hot water plugging my shower heads. How do if fix this problem? Thanks Tom

If problem is hot water side only, then water heater is suspect.
1) If water heater temperature is set above 140F, it causes minerals to dissolve out of water.
2) If water heater is exposed to minerals in water, like hard water, those minerals will gather at bottom of tank.
3) If anode rod is depleted, the metal tank will begin to rust.
4) Combination of problems listed above.
To fix these problems, flush tank and replace anode rod, and possibly install water softener, install water filter, and turn down temperature setting.

Size and installation for instant water heater

Ariston gl4.0 should be fine if used inline with your hot water heater. Used alone it will likely run out when dishwasher is filling and you are using sink.To use your existing hot water for backup: 1 connect existing HOT water line to cold (inlet) on ariston, 2 Then HOT (outlet) from ariston to sink and dw. If you want instant hot water at a sink 10 feet away: use 3/8 pex pipe from ariston to sink, so you only have to run off a cupful or 2 before hot water arrives at sink.
