Re: can't unlock my camera card on hp photosmart M425
If we are talking about an sd card, on the opposite side to the 'cut' corner is a small piece that slides away from the contacts to lock, slide this away from where it says lock if this is the case, but make sure it wasn't protected to save something important before use, This may have caught on something as you slid the card in, and it's only tiny!

Take the memory card out of your camera. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
even after removing the lock(by pushing the push button at the upper side of the card which allows the card to lock and unlock)and when you are trying to format it,it shows formatting cannot be done right??????????////
all right, just take the card and put in a card reader and try formatting, hope this helps...even after trying in crd reader if ur card cannot be formatted, then the card is being corrupted..........its advisable to go for sandick or transcend memory cards which have a longer life and some important pictures or joyfull moments being picturised if missing,it hurtsa lot, because i also faced this problem........
Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
You have an sd card for this cam, depending on who made the card there is a little white tab,or grey, on the side of the card, you can see that it can slide back and forth, and you should see the word lock, just make sure the little tab is not on lock, slide it the other way.
You max card size is 2gig, and the first time you put in a new card you have to format the card with the camera.
