Question about Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop Computer (ddcwda1_7) IntelPentium dual-core processor E2140 (1MB L2,1.60GH

1 Answer

My friend has a dell inspirion 530 that the screen goes black

The computer will turn on and then the computer will go to a blue diagnostic page for about one or two seconds then go to a black page that has different start up modes on it, i.e. safe mode. The only way to get the computer going again is to power it down and restart and the same thing happens again. The computer has been reformated twice by a professional but this person also said something about a highbernation mode. They also said they have never seen this type of problem before on a consistant basis. They mentioned it could be the motherboard or processor. Is this possible and is it expensive? The computer is out of warranty and is only about a year and a half old.

I just contracted the same problem. I bought the 530 2/08. Had the hard drive replaced three weeks later. Had a SATA problem about two weeks after the hard drive was replaced. Dell sent me a new tower. Today my monitor goes to black after being on for three seconds. Called Dell, and they said it was the mother board. This will be four times that the mother board will be replaced in 13 months. When I had a SATA problem, they ran a diagnostic and it came up that "This computer is not supported by Dell." I would really like an answer to why this computer has so many problems.

This is a common problem with this dell brand for some reason. i have replaced many motherboards on this model and im afraid the tech is right. i would go with a non factory brand of mother board. it will work best. i think this is a manufacturing flaw in the dell brand motherboards.

My computer had not been used in a couple of weeks and when I turned it back on it started beeping and the monitor will come on but cannot see screen

The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you.

I formatted the harddrive of a Dell Inspirion 530. It says BOOTMGR missing on the main screen so I put in the VISTA OS disc and it won't read it, and acts like it's not even in the computer.

Hi, go to the above dell website and go to page 192.
It sounds like to me you need to change the boot order in your bios. Follow this instructions and put your cd/dvd drive at the top of the list, then it should run the vista install disk.
Hope this helps

Dell dimension 3000. Just Black Screen no Windows XP.

From your description, you were able to boot the machine properly in Safe Mode. While in Safe Mode, change the video resolution to the lowest possible (color depth does not matter at this point). You should also check that you are configured for single monitor operation if your video card supports multiple monitors. Reboot the machine normally. If all goes well, you can readjust your video settings for a higher resolution again.

The display driver on my Inspiron 530 keeps failing, the screen freezes/glitches or goes black, then starts functioning again about 5-10seconds afterwards. This can happen several times in a few hours,...

This could be a problem with your monitor, your vga cable or your graphics card, or a combination of those so you need to eliminate them. It would be useful to test your monitor on another machine if possible to eliminate the monitor and cable. Generally Dell also have on their CD's a diagnostics utility that you can boot into to test for example the graphics card. By a process of elimination, you will pin point where the problem is. You could also double check your electrics..!!

Sleep Mode Lockup on Dell Inspirion 530 w/ Vista

Try hitting the "Windows" key on your keyboard to bring it out of sleep mode. The "Windows" key is generally found on the bottom row of the keyboard, near the Alt and Ctrl keys, and it has no letters on it, just the Windows logo. That key brings my Windows Vista machines out of sleep mode when other keys won't.

As for the power button, anytime you need to force a computer to turn off, you can press and hold the power button to do so. Usually, you need to hold the power button for 5-10 seconds and it will shut down. Use this option with caution, as it turns the computer off without running through the shutdown process and can cause you to lose data.

Hope this helps.
