Well the only way I can think of is to actually open up the camera, find the electret mic and cut it out. Being USB the signal is mutiplexed in with the video signal.. so simply disabling it Via software would not be possible UNLESS that was an option in the software that came with the unit. Which I guess in not possible else ya wouldn't have asked?
Alright, I found how to switch the audio from one to another.
If you have Windows XP, go into your start menu, hit run, type in mmsys.cpl, under the audio tab the second section down is all about audio, click the drop down box and choose your other audio system, probably the only other one.
If you have Windows Vista, go into the start menu type mmsys.cpl, click mmsys.cpl, click the recording tab, select the microphone or audio that you want, should be only 2; the cam and the other, click set default. In the list of recording devices, right-click line in, click disable, and then click ok.
If you are running a mac, i have no idea, but i will try to help if you respond.
otherwise i think ripping the mic would maybe work.
Was this helpful?
