There should be screws on the top of the base take them out then the cover should come off.ther there are 2 screws on both sides of the motor that hold it to the base.take them out then you are at the motor.look at the motor casing and you will see screws 2 on top and 2 on the bottom that will take the casing off the motor.use a small paint brush to clean the motoe and casing

UltraLux keep overheat

1. Check the hose for blockages. Do this by dropping a coin, marble, or other small round object down one end, raising hose and letting it fall out the other end. It can usually be cleared by attaching hose to blower, pointing other end outside, and turning on.
2. Check for blockage in the power head elbow.
3. Check the afterfilter. It's locater under the plastic cover on the top of the back of the vacuum.
4. If you have fine dust in your area, make sure the dial on top is set at the smallest dot. This will allow the bag to fill fuller.
Regarding fine dust, never use it to vacuum up sheetrock dust. It will go right through the bag and into the motor, quickly ruining it.

If none of these problems exist, take it in to have it checked out. Overheating is normally due to a blockage of some sort.

The overload on my dyson cuts in after about five minutes, and I have to wait hours for it to reset? it is an upright about ten yrs old

check both your filters and make sure you dont have any cloggs. you have 2 filters, one premotor filter on the side or top of the canister. also check your hepa filter which is located underneath where the canister sits. Dyson claims this to be a lifetime filter but how can a filter be lifetime if its doing its job properly? if you dont have any clogs in the rear neck, hose, nozzle ect. It could very possibly be the motor has finally gave out, creating alot of heat and tripping out the reset. Since ive never seen any dyson last 10 yrs im leaning more towards the motor, but before you just assume go ahead and check, replace the filters and clear any clogs. let me know if you have any other questions or need a schematic for this model

Our Miele vacuum is only 2/3 years old and seems to have given up the gost, our previous one lasted 15 yrs. The machine starts ok and within 4/5 minutes the power drops down and the hoover comes to a stop...

There is a circut board that is going bad and not providing the power to run the motor. You will need to contact a Miele dealer for that part. It is the only board that is in this machine so they should just need a model number in order to get it for you.

Burning smell kenmore canister

Had a burning smell coming from the vacuum. Opened it up and noticed sparks in the motor area. Ordered a new motor from Sears and replaced it. Works great now.

Any belts that can sub. for the RR

Applied the electrical tape to the motor shaft as suggested by another poster. The tape ripped off, but the sticky residue left provides enough friction to grab the belt and cause the beter brush to turn correctly. Thanks
