I had this kind of problem some days ago, but I have resolved. I am not very sure that if your problem is toally same with mine.
When you plug in the power, you'd better press the "Speaker" on and then press the "Speaker" off. Then you can use it normally.
But the premiss is that you program it according to the manual.

Are you sure there is a greeting?

Here is a manual for your phone, I never saw anything like what you are stating in the troubleshooting guide of the manual, but maybe you might have better luck.
