Q - My washer seems to keep filling with water, the water keeps coming in the washer and going out the drain without the washermotor running.
A - This often is a drain hose that is too low or a drain hose that has been pushed too far down inside the stand pipe....the water is actually siphoning out of the washer. Do not "seal" the drain hose to the house plumbing pipe, this will also allow the water to be siphoned out.

That means that the drain system is not working fine or that you have reflux from drain lines.

Try first closing the water faucets at the back, if you get no water, then the problem was a faulty inlet valve, slowly letting water in overnight.

If the problem is that machine does not drain completely, then you have a defective drain pump, a faulty water level switch, or a problem with drain lines.

Reflux from drain line is also possible, with water getting back on the machine overnight from drain.
You find out by ensuring that there is no water after cycle and leaving water supply to machine closed overnight.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet front load washing machine

The following link explains the "FH" error code:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r615354-fh_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

This is one of the more "involved" error codes that has many possibilities for the cause. I would start with the simple things, first, in an attempt to rule out easy the possibilities. Check your fill hoses to ensure they are not kinked or clogged, followed by verifying your installation to ensure you don't have a siphoning problem, Then, check the drain pump for operation. Read through the link thoroughly andlet me know if you have questions. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: My whirlpool duet front load washing machine stops in mid cycle

F21 = LONG DRAIN ERROR

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes the water valves turn off. After 4 minutes the “Sd” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F21 error code will be displayed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear.

Procedure:

1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
4. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7.
6. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
7. Replace the pump.

Alternative Procedure:

If the machine cannot be forced to its diagnostic mode then:

1. Disconnect the washer from the power supply and water supply.
2. Remove the top panel by taking out the three screws in the back of the washer. The pressure switch is right on top.
3. Remove the Molex connector from the water level switch / pressure switch.
Refer to the picture below.
4. Reconnect the power supply but not the water supply.
5. Power the machine. The machine will enter diagnostic mode.

8. Reconnect the water supply.
9. Power on the machine it will work without error

SOURCE: I have a Whirlpool Duet front-loading washing

It appears your dual inlet water valve has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

You can try this:

First check your washer plug to see if the connections are tightly screwed. Next check your filter if you haven't for long.

Remove the 3 screws at the bottom of the front panel under the washer door. Your filter door will be light brown. If you find a hose there it is to drain out excess water (water that could not be drained by your pump) After you hv drained unscrew the cap and remove all the junk inside. Have a large plastic bag to catch junk and water. Refit carefully after cleaning out. If not solved, something shd be blocking your pump, check this out

I just came back after a 5 day trip and found water in my whirlpool duet front load washing machine. How did it get there?

This is usually the result of an impurity in the water supply which has made it past the inlet screen and gotten to the diaphram in the water valve, allowing a bit of water to slowly seep into the machine. Sometimes, just running the next cycle will flush it out, and fix the problem for you. If not, you will have to replace the water inlet valve. (the part the fill hoses screw onto on back of the machine)
