this error message usually means that you cannot use this disc because it is either too scratched up on the bottom or it is corrupted by something. try wiping the bottom of the disc off with a soft non-abarasive cloth/substance and try re-inserting the disc. if that does not work you will need to try and find another copy of the game. whatever you do do not touch the lens inside the gamecube console because that will prevent it from reading any games
Hi sorry i dont know how to post something so i posted it here I have mario kart double dash and i have 2 controlers 1 a turbo and another a regular and when ever i play this game a red screen will pop up once in a while and say please read nintendo gamecube intruction booklet for information
try different games in your gamecube and see if it can read any of the other games. If your gamecube isn't reading any games then you know it might be a laser problem. In that case go ahead and take a damp q-tip with glass cleaner and wipe off the laser with it. This will make sure that dust or dirt is not on the laser. If you do this and the gamecube is still not reading games then you know that athe laser is bad and needs to be replaced.
If you can get other games to read but mario sunshine then wipe off the disk on both sides top and bottom making sure that there is no smudges on either side then try having the gamecube read it again. If it doesn't read it still then you know that the game is bad and you would need to get another one.
i have had this problem myself. if the game played normally up to the time you were told the disc could not be read, then take out the disc and clean it off. you would be amazed how easily dust and interfer with the normal disc operation. i hope this helps.
Its either the game disc or the lens of the gamecube. Try cleaning the disk or try another disc. If the cube still doesn't read the disk your lens is probably scratched in which case you would need a new gamecube.
I have a game cube that does the same thing. I open it while it's turned off and put my finger on the eye and slide it back and forth a few time. It works after a few tries. I think the gears that move the eye are wore out.
