Cant hear tv through tuner

The problem you are having is the unit is going into protect.
You can try disconnecting all the speakers and then see if it turns on. If it does turn on you may only have a bad speaker.
Then just turn the unit off and plug in one speaker at a time. If it still turns on, that speaker is good. Keep doing this with each speaker until it goes into protect again, and then you know the last speaker plugged in is the bad one. Make sure you turn it off after checking each speaker.
If it still goes into protect with all speakers disconnected you most likely have a problem in the amplifier circuit.
I have the complete service manual in PDF format with parts list and schematics, but it cost $10.00
Let me know if you want to purchase it and I will give you instructions for that. I can give you a direct download link after purchase using PayPal.
If you would like any further help just let me know.

SOURCE: Pioneer sx-205 gives a overload
Does it play normal on any sources, or do you only have the tuner and CD for available sources?
There are many different things that can cause this type of problem.
It could be bad solder connections on in the amplifier circuit or power supply, it could be a bad speaker or a bad output channel inside the receiver if this happens only when it gets turned up loud.
The overload warning happens when the amplifier circuit has excessive current or DC voltage on the outputs. Unfortunately the only way to determain if it is the speakers is to change them with other known good speakers and see if it still happens. But before buying any speakers you need to have the receiver ruled out as the source of the problem.
It can also go into overload if you have the wrong type of speakers connected, or too many speakers connected. Each speaker jack should only have one speaker connected toit. If you are using for example, 4 speakers connected to the "A" speaker jacks meant for just 2 speakers, it will create a load to the amplifier that the amplifier is not rated for.
Look on the back of the receiver and it will have listed the proper impeadance for your receiver. Most will say:
8 ohms or more "A" or "B" speakers
16 ohms "A" and "B" speakers
That means you must use 8 ohm or higher ohm rated speakers if you are using only speakers"A" or only speakers "B", but can not use 8 ohm speakers if you are using speakers "A" and "B" at the same time. Then they must be 16 ohm speakers.
Two 8 ohm speakers in one speaker jack is a 4 ohm load, that is why you can not use more than 1 speaker per speaker jack.
I hope you found this information useful, and if I can be more help just let me know.
