This sounds like a power supply issue whereby your computer is not suppling enough current to the web cam for it work and therefore the power supply shuts down rather than harming your system.

Hp dx2200 computer won't power off

If your HP computer refuses to power down, this means that there are still programs open that Windows can't close. Normally when you select the "Shut Down" button from your "Start" menu, Windows closes all open programs, then closes itself, and your basic input/output system (BIOS) turns off all of your hardware. If Windows can't close all open programs, your computer won't be able to power off. This means that you must close these programs yourself.

Right-click on the window of an open program on your Windows taskbar (Bottom of Screen) Click "Close Window." Windows manually closes the program. If a window appears on-screen indicating that Windows cannot get the program to close, click the "Force Close" button in this window to have Windows force the program to shut down. Repeat "Step 1" for any additional programs that are open on your computer. Click "Start." Click "Shut Down." Hope this helps.

Well, I would please need your help asap. I really want my webcam to work again. Everytime I try to open the Acer Crystal Eye Webcam on me Netbook Aspire one AOA150 it would be a failure to find...

The camera must be in use by a program that you did not open, such as a background service. Background services can be found in the system tray or processes in task manager, and are installed with your programs and devices (such as a webcam) They almost always get in the way, so download ccleaner and click on tools, then startup, to toggle these services (be careful not to toggle ones you know you use or need), but find services like un needed camera software and shut them down. Reboot.

How to turn on webcam

If the iSight webcam is not turning on when opening a program to use it, such as Photo Booth, a simple procedure can possibly fix it. First, shut off your computer. Next, locate the keys Command, Option, P, and R. Restart the computer while holding these keys down. Release the keys once the computer makes it's startup noises and your webcam should be good to go!

As soon as I switch my Philips SPC 620NC WebCam on, my PC shuts down. I use Windows XP service pack 2.

I have a similar error with my Logitech webcam. In order for me to use it, I must plug it in and turn it on before the computer even boots up, which is my solution for now.
If I turn it on while the computer is already running, it gives me the blue screen and shuts off.
This is because there is a program or application running in the background that does not comply with your webcam, causing Windows to get confused and crash/turn off your computer.
Try plugging in/turning on before you start your computer. Hope this works!

I m not able to install my integrated webcam on the dell e6400 laptop...........tried installing creative drivers but the installation stops at 90%.............I m also not able to see the webcam anywhere...

Please shut down all unnecessary tasks by going into Task Manager. Make sure there are no programs running that could interfere with the install. Particularly any graphics programs that you may use that are left open even when you close them.
Make sure your antivirus is NOT running.

My webcam works perfect but everything is upside down

Go into the application that you installed in the computer for the camera. There should be a command within the program to reverse the image.

When I go to START and SHUTDOWN instead of shutting down like it use to do, I get a message instead that announces the programs that are still open. I would just like for it to shut down like it use to do.

Hello,

you are getting the message because probably you did not close opened programs or web page before you attempt shutting down.

Check your task bar and make sure all opened programs/application are closed before you shut down your computer.

This is all you need to do for your computer to shut-down in its normal way.

Also to be sure all programs are closed, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard and task manager icon will pop-out. Then you can close any opened program from there.

Take care.

I cannot shut down or restart my PC using the start menu prompts. The only way to shut her down is a hard shut down (manually turn her off).

There is a program that is failing to shut down in general, which is delaying the computers ability to shut down.
The next time you shut down, make sure you have no programs open. Then, while attempting to shut down, wait until Windows pops up window asking you to close a non-responsive program. When it does, take note of the program that it mentions, then close it and see if Windows shuts down. Note: sometimes this takes a really long time.
Try re-installing the non-responsive program and see if your computer can shut down normally again.

Logitech Quickcam Fusion!

Instead of plugging the webcam in after the computer is running, I plugged in while it was shut down. The first time the computer booted with the webcam attached it took approximatly 2 minutes longer to boot, but every boot after has been as fast as ever. Webcam works great now!
