SOURCE: icemaker not making ice

First thing to check is to see if the optics are working properly. This is the red flashing light on right hand side of freezer wall. Close the flipper door, be sure not to block the beam, and the light should go to solid red. If it does then the optics are ok. If it continues to blink then that is your problem. If optics check ok then pull ice maker out and remove the white plastic cover. It just pulls off. Look at the center of the gear wheel and see if one of the plastic tabs is either broken or if they are sort of twisted and touching eachother. If any of these things with the gear have happened then that module will need to be replaced along with the ice maker thermostat. If your not sure how to replace these parts then just replace the whole ice maker. That is much easier and not much more costly.
After changing the parts or the ice maker out follow these steps to start the ice maker thru a cycle. 1. Remove the ice maker from the cradle but leave the harness connected. Remove the front cover from the module. Unplug the refrigerator. Get a small jumper wire with bare ends and jump T and H on the module, leave the jumper in and set the ice maker on the shelf. Close the door. Now plug the refer back in and wait 30 seconds. Open the door and the ice-maker should be cycling. Remove the jumper, put the module cover back on and set it back in the cradle. The fill should take place when the ejector blades reach the 12:00 position. Follow these steps exactly in order

Your unit has infered sensors on the frezzer left and right walls. There is a diagnostic test sheet brown in color in your kick plate. All you have to do is open frezzer door look on the right sensor it should blink twice followed by a 1-2 sec delay,if that is good press in flapper door on right sensor do not block path of infered beam you will not see a beam its invisable.Once you hold in flapper on right sensor the led should be solid. If solid optics are good if not solid led replace optic sensors

Why does MZB-12A ice maker have water at level mark, buttons function but not making ice?

The click you hear is the start relay and overload opening and closing. One of the compressor start components is bad. These components usually are: the start capacitor and start relay. I would change these parts first. If neither of these parts are bad, you probably have a failed compressor.

Ice maker not freezing the water. teeth still appear to be turning but water only freezing due to cold freezer. water mostly overflowing and forming icicles all over the freezer section. have removed ice...

the freezer is supposed to freeze the water, the icemaker is just the form for the ice and the motor is to free the ice from the form, make sure water supply is cold water and not hot

Ice dispenser does not work unit makes ice and water works fine

As long as the ice trays are filling with water, it's not actually the function of the ice maker to make ice. Ice simply forms because the freezer compartment is cold.

The icemaker's function is to sense when ice is formed in the trays and to dump the ice into its container.

This requires the use of a thermostat to sense the water/ice temperture and 'tell' the icemaker when it's time to dump the ice.

During the dump cycle, a heater briefly comes on as the arm swings through the ice cube compartments to assist in loosening the ice cubes and make them easy to dump.

If the icemaker is filling with water but you get no ice, I suspect that either the control circuit (thermostat, relays, and wiring) is not 'telling' the heater to come on, or the heater is burned out.

Some units also have a timer circuit such that both the timer contacts and the thermostat contacts must be close in order to initiate a dump cycle (i.e., it must be time to dump and the water in the cubicles must be frozen).

A skilled homeowner could make these repairs, but if you don't feel comfortable taking your icemaker apart and testing the components, I advise leaving the job to a qualified repairman.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Ice maker was making ice now water seems to be spraying all over freezer instead of going into maker

Have you changed the water filter as this regulates water pressure to the icemaker? is there ice left/stuck in the maker leaving the water no place to go (normally caused when the icemakers element dies)? If so you need a new freezer Ice maker unit. this unit is plug in and only three screws holding it in so this is the easy fix, but not that cheap. cheers

Maytag MS2732GRW ice maker quit

guest make sure your wire arm on icemaker is down same dandcs also for orig poster they have duel water valves one goes to door water one goes to icemaker. icemaker works a general rule more than door water so wears out faster but you have to replace both as they are a unit .other things that will stop ice production are frozen ice fill tube ,bad motor module in icemaker .check that first .if that don't solve it then reply to me and we will get deeper
