Problems with my mother!

Hello everybody, my board d865glc was working all right until 2 days ago, it works with 2 OS`s in two different hard drives. The case is this i buy another board and when I moved the slave drive to the newest the old board didn`t recognize the secuence of boot, then i tell to my mother that recognize the drive automatically in the BIOS program, and then listen to this: "computer shows a black screen with any kind of response! I proceed to turn off manually, 5 minutes later in turn on the board just showed a green ligth inside with no fan speed, without video, nothing but a dead mother.
I will appreciate any kind of diagnosis so much, because technicians in my country don't take into account this kind of damage, and i`d like to recover my d865glc is almost my life.

I narrowed it down to the ribbon cable connection. There must be a break in the solder joint at the connector on the Mother Board. The computer would freeze up on not start and give an error message that...

Hello, well, looking at the on-line manual, you've got 2 serial ATA connectors and 2 Parallel ATA connectors so you can forget about using that socket you suspect and use the other one! Anyone will take your hard-earned cash off you to 'test' your board, but it takes someone with a proper solder station geared up for micro-soldering and ESD protection (and the expertise) to do anything other than butcher your board. So keep your cash, invest maybe in a SATA drive if you're using PATA ones-they'll be on their way out maybe as they don't seem to last more than 3 years these days. Just don't believe anyone who claims to be able to actually repair motherboards...if it's not a bios or firmware update then there's really nothing one can do with the multi-layer boards in use these days. Please explain the difference between Intel ATX board D865GLCL vs. D865GLCLK.

Hello edk2,

Here are the diferences in the models of motherboards:

D865GLCLK: Video, Audio, Gibabit LAN D865GLCL: Video, Audio, 10/100 LAN D865GLC: Video, Audio

This means that the D865GLCL has the Fast Ethernet LAN Interface on-boardwhile the D865GLCLK has the Gig-E LAN Interface on-board. However, the D865GLC does not have an on-board LAN Interface.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Swapped hard drive into new casw and now it wont boot up

This is due to a hardware conflict.
The system drivers on the hard drive are for the old mother board and devices,You will have to reinstall OS while it is install on the new mother board,The computer cannot boot to a drive that is loaded to another system unless all the devices and drive are identical.

Please rate this a fixya

About Linux fedora and XP

Without knowing more about your system, the key rule is to install XP first, then Fedora.
If that doesn't work then it's time to put more partitions on your hard drive, and install the 2 operating systems on different partitions, again, remembering that Windows XP has to be the first installed.
