Question about Epson Stylus Photo R300 InkJet Printer

R300 doesn't print black

Hello,
I was printing a document when suddenly the color black went fading just like the cartridge was running empty. In the end, it simply didn't print any more black. The ink levels were saying the cartridge was half-full though...
By the way, I bought a new cartridge and replaced the old one, Unfortunately, the printer still doesn't print black.
I tried to clean with the utility once, it didn't work.

Do you have a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Hey merc! Thanks a lot for your post!

I had quite abandoned my printer as I was assuming the problem was the filled nozzles or printing heads... but it seems that it was not the case...!

could u be a little more precise on how to restore the faulty contacts?

    Thanks again!!

Nardo85. Your problem sounds to me to be a bit more complex than cleaning the contacts. Certainly do that first. The easiest way to pinpoint the contacts is to look at the suspect cartridge (black in your case) see where the contacts are on it which will enable you to pinpoint where they meet the contacts on the printer. You can use distilled water, alcohol, or an electronics cleaner. Q-tips work well. Make sure you dry the contacts well when you are done. Be careful not to get alcohol or electronics cleaner on the exterior of the printer since they'd likely mar the finish.

If that doesn't work, a reasonable guess is a problem with a plugged purge tube. This is a problem that I haven't personally dealt with. It looks pretty messy. I did find a fairly good desciption of what this is and how to deal with it at the following link:

Black print is faded on my HP deskjet 6980 printer. Whenever I print a word document it will have sporadic fading. It will be fine in one place then all faded in another. I've cleaned the cartridges and...

Hi,

Here are some steps you can check to resolve your issue.

Check if the ink cartridges are low, specially the color black since if the black is empty, you are using the colored cartridges to print black. If the cartridges are newly replaced check the cartridges by reseating it. Try to consider changing the print quality high but doing so will use more ink. If still the same try to clean your printer heads.

Here are the instruction for cleaning your printer.

Open the printer tool box. (open a word, then click on file then print, choose properties, then services)
click on clean the print cartridges, then clean. Do test printing as well to check if the color is correct. If still the same calibrate the color which can be found in the same menu.

Hope this will help you resolve the problem.

Ran out of color ink on cnnon mx310 ... want to

If when you attempt to print only with the black cartridge installed but it won't print, then this specific printer requires that color ink also be installed. Typical with most inkjets.

HP 5610 - printing fades down the page

the printer carriage might be wearing out, it happens on the 5610's, may be time for a new printer. The fading issue sounds like a cartridge issue. Try a oem?

Faded or no printing of documents

First, have you removed the protective tape from the bottom of the printer cartridge? I know it sounds simple, but it's something easy to overlook when you install a new cartridge.
