Question about Kenwood VR-605 Receiver

1 Answer

Reciever won't power up

Bought VR 605 on ebay. Seller said reciever worked when shipped.I unpacked and plugged it in, but only the standby light comes on. Nothing else lights and no sound production. Is there a fuse that could be blown, something else I'm overlooking or should I just return?

HI, this amp may need to be reset. also, i would check the voltage selector on the back side to make sure the switch is set to 110-120v. once this is done, you will need to reset the microcomputer. here is the procedure.

The microcomputer may malfunction (unit cannot be operated,
or shows an erroneous display) if the power cord is unplugged
while the power is ON, or due to some other external factor. If
this happens, execute the following procedure to reset the
microcomputer and return the unit to its normal operating
condition.

Procedure- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, then
plug it back in while holding down the POWER key.

ok, after this reset, if your receiver isn't operational, it may have serious damage to its power board.

CHECK FOR CLEARED COOLING VENTS & FOR PROPERLY WORKING COOLING FANS. THIS WILL CAUSE SHUTDOWN OF THE UNIT. IF ITS ALL CLEAR, YOU PROBABLY HAVE A POWER SUPPLY ISSUE.

Remote no longer powers off or on the reciever, nor does it control any of the recievers functions, however it does work the TV & Cable box. I just purchased a new universal remote, it controls...

If you have tried the reset of the receiver in the owners manual (Holding the Power/Standby switch while simultaneously plugging the receiver power cord in the wall outlet) and that doesn't fix the problem then you are probably discovering that the receiver has a welding problem with the IR sensor pins to the circuit board. Go to this website http://mysite.verizon.net/amp68/ to find the 3 pins that need to be welded. I just did this last night and it works. You can count me as one 5 people that have had success with this fix.

Reciever wont stay powered on

I fear that there's no easy fix. Sounds like the power supply or the board which controls it is bad. If you're not an electronics repair person, it'll need to go to a repair shop.

Kenwood Home Theater System digital display does not work.

I had the display going dark problem on my VR-615, which uses the same display board as the 605. I found the post listed below and was able to use the information and re-solder the connections. My display is now working again!

Kenwood KRA 5050 No power

I think the movers mishandle your unit that why it happen like that.It needs to reheat or resolder because the solder holding the spare parts are loose or crack,so when it resolder already performance will come again .That all Txjay , just for now.

Receiver standby light,no power

WOOHOO!! I fixed this issue... same problem as everyone else has mentioned... to reset the Kenwood VR-606 receiver, unplug the unit. Hold the power button down and while holding the power button plug the unit in.
Say a prayer...
Then press the power button.
My display isn't working, but my speakers are working, and that's really all I care about right now... good luck to others!

Broken receiver

I bought my AV-DV75 from Best Buy about 10 years ago and it still works. However it did stop working a while back. I don't know why. I alsmost threw it away. But I unplugged it for a couple of days, then plugged it back up and it came back on. It is still working. Maybe that will work for you.

PS
my center speaker quit working recently. If you decide to sell your AIWA speakers will you please email me?
