Welcome to fixya

If you have forgotten the wireless network key , you can retrieve it from the router itself

Click the below link
http://192.168.1.1

Now it will ask for username and password

Enter username = ( blank) and password = admin
If you can't login using this credentials then you will have to reset the router

If you logged in . Then click on Wireless > security

On this screen you can see the wireless key
If the security mode is WEP then your password is Key1
If the security mode is WPA-PSK then your password is Preshared key

Thanks

I cannot connect my new laptop to the wireless router because I have forgotten the security key. Can you tell me how to retrieve it or reset it? Thanks in advance for your help

Hello.

To find the key you need to log into the router. In a browser, type http://192.168.2.1 (depending on your network, this could be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) in the address bar. A username and password box will appear. Try leaving them blank or key in Admin with a blank password. Look for wireless setup. Just browse through and you'll see the WEP key or passphrase. Then, change the key.

Hope this resolves your problem.

My wep to get internet to my nintendo dsi is not working can you send my a wep key that really works

Your WEP key is yours only, no one else will know it. Usually it is on a label on your wireless router. Have a look at the router and see if you can see it. If not you may need to try and reset your router with the reset button and then try connecting again. I am not 100% sure if this will reset the WEP key, some do, some don't. Unfortunately if you have forgotten it it can be difficult to retrieve it.

Hope this helps

Need my wep key but i can't get it

What I guess from your post is that you have forgotten the WEP key and now you want that.
Its not possible to recover the WEP key so easily.
If there is another user using the same wireless and WEP , you can ask him the key.
If you are the lone user then i recomend you to reset the WEP on the wireless router by completely reseting the config.
But be aware that you will loose all the config on the wireless router, so please get a call logged with the support team.

Retrieve WEP Key

Hi,

You can view the WEP key on the router's Web UI. Just go to http://192.168.1.1 (router's IP address must be entered on the address bar). Go to Wireless and then click on Wireless Security. Just copy the key on your notepad and then enter it on the new wireless product.

Forgot network password

Hello...if you need to retrieve your network key, eg to connect a new laptop to the internet, this can be found within your router settings.

Here's a rough guide:

1. Type your router IP address, eg http://192.168.1.1 or whatever is correct for your model, into a web browser address bar

2. Enter your router username and/or password at the prompt. The defaults for Linksys are username: (left blank) and password: admin : but if you have set a router password/username, please enter these.

3. In the router user interface, go to the section headed Wireless Security, or similar. Every router is different, so you may have to hunt around a little. Key words to look for are Security, Wireless Settings, Encryption, WPA, (or WEP).

Your network key will be somewhere here. It might be labelled PSK, pre-shared key, WPA or WEP key, WPA-PSK, network key, WPA shared key, passphrase etc – but that’s the one you need.

For more details, you could pick up a manual from the Linksys site or view the help pages; otherwise, please come back to Fixya with your model number, and let us know how we can help. Good luck

If you have a PC already connecting to the same wireless network your Xbox wants to be on then you can find the WEP key software finder on eBay. Just search for "recover lost wep wireless key"
Hope this helps.
