    450 w power supply

ati radeon 9550 agp card 256 memory at dual channel 128 memory each channel

run seperate power supply to agp

trying to install pinnacle pctv hd card and every time it is in pci slot it shuts down the agp card tries to share that memory

    the agp is graphics only

the tv card is a tuner card only anything else i missed you might need to know?

the memory i am running at ddr is kingston hyperthreading

    charles harris Mar 08, 2009

    tried that before doesnt work

  • charles harris
    charles harris Mar 08, 2009

for those who do not do the research, the 256 is its own memory if u looked up the agp i mentioned before you would see that

  • charles harris
    charles harris Mar 08, 2009

i personally dont like short cuts or those who take short cuts, its called diagnostics which means no short cuts, do your homework and everyone is happy that simple.

I dont ask any more than what I would do, its called being thorough.

To all of you who are really trying thank you for those who are just shooting in the dark and causing problems, you are the ones who give techs a bad name all around.

What operating system do you have?
this problem can be solved from the bios, reset it to defaults and restart. if that doesnt help try going back to bios and go to advanced settings of pci ports and play with setting there.

It sounds as if you are trying to run an AGP and a PCI card at the same time. If this is the case you won't be able to do that. If the radeon is built into the board, you can only use a pci, or PCIE. The only way you can use the pinnicle is in a different motherboard or to disable the video on the motherboard, and try the PCI slot again, it may or may not work

Ok calm down, the computer is treating them both as "video cards", it doesn't know the difference. Someone should have mentioned that to you. Just try this "indulge me", go into the device manager, and disable the onboard graphics. Then restart using the tunercard as the only card. see if it works then.

Sometimes you cannot use two cards that need shared memory at the same time, you may need to replace the video card.

It is not a matter of motherboard, it is the cards.

When a card uses shared memory, it means that this is reserving the first block of your ordinary computer RAM for its use.

Two cards with shared memory will cause troubles to each other , and often do not work at same time.

Buy a different video card with built in memory and disable the built in video card.

You need a video card like this one:Evga e-GeForce 6200 256 MB DDR AGP Graphics Card ...
    With his own memory chips.

If you are using an AGP card , what is your AGP card please, from first description there was no mention to your AGP card.

assigning irq (interrupt request) to pci slots wont have any influence to use of shared memory.

    Thanks for your collaboration.

Istead of commenting about assumers , give us the model of your AGP card, and also of your Pinnacle card.
Otherwise I will soon start assuming that you are here to make an inproper use of yours and ours time.

    Many Thanks.

And to the user, there may have been some misunderstanding here, but I willbe grateful if you can give us details on the graphic adapter used and on your pinnacle card .
Please retain from commenting about squatters or assuming, that does not make any sense to us, and for us it is a waste of time.
I will answer within 24 hours.

    Many thanks.

    Regards.

Ati radeon 9550 agp with pinnacle pctv hd problem please help

Try to put it on another pci slot. if you are using the one right under the agp, then that is your culprit.  the agp and the top pci slot share video resources.  just put it on another pci slot, if you have to swap another non-video related card to the one just beneath the agp slot.  Hope this helps.
