My son changed his password on his netbook. now he doesn't remember it. he cannot log in at all. he can do absolutely nothing with it. how can we fix this?

at Windows XP's Welcome Screen, simply press Ctrl-Alt-Del keys sequence together twice, and you will be shown a Log On to Windows menu where you can specify the User Name and Password. In the User Name text box, key in "Administrator" (without quotes) and leave the Password field blank. Then press Enter or click on OK. If there it is not a password protected Administrator account, or blank password is set, then you will be able to access the Windows with full administrative privileges as Administrator.

Then simply click start > control panel > User accounts then select your sons account and click edit then click remove password. once done simply log off and then log in to your sons account and no password will be asked for. If your son is the root administrator then you will need to get software to reset the password for you

I forgot my pssword and I can´t LogIn

I believe probably the easiest and safest way for you is remove your Windows OS Passwords with Windows Password Recovery tools. I found a good one at http://www.reset-windows-password.com last week, and then I downloaded it and used it to remove the lost password within only few minutes. Furthermore, the powerful tool didn't cause a little data lose. It's worth an attempt.

How can i repair my CPU cause of problem TDLR missing? how can i repair my CPU?

NTLDR is missing in windows XP

The Windows 2000 and Windows XP CDs supplied by Microsoft has a tool called the Recovery Console which can be used to repair errors that prevent Windows XP from starting using the command line. OEM versions of Windows XP, including computers that were supplied with Windows XP preinstalled, may not have this utility.

This problem may occur if the basic input/output system (BIOS) on your computer is outdated, or if one or more of the following Windows boot files are missing or damaged:

Ntldr
Ntdetect.com
Boot.ini

Check your drives for floppy,USB storage devices,CDs and any other bootable media.Because sometmes these things makes problems. Then go to BIOS and do the BIOS settings to boot from the source where the OS is installed.

1: Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.

2: When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.

3: Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.

4: Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key(most of the cases it will be "1" only) and pressing enter.

5: You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.

6: From the command prompt, copy NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM from the i386 folder of the CD to the root folder of the hard drive. In the example commands given below, C: is the hard drive and D: is the CD-ROM drive. You will need to change the drive letters if appropriate:

COPY D:I386NTLDR C:
COPY D:I386NTDETECT.COM C:

Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

How to reset windows xp perfessional password

Here's how to reset your password:
  1. First reboot Windows XP in safe mode by re-starting the computer and pressing F8 repeatedly as the computer starts up.
  2. Then (in safe mode) click Start and then click Run. In the open box type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes, of course)
  3. You will now have access to all the user accounts, including the administrators account and will be able to reset the lost password.
  4. Just click the administrators user account (or the target user's account), and then click Reset Password. You will need to add a new password in the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and confirm by clicking OK.
  5. All done, you have recovered the lost password
Hope you'll have it resolved soon :-)

Are you talking about the BIOS password, or the windows password?
A hard reset will probably reset your BIOS password (see this thread),

To reset your windows password, you need your XP CD-ROM and follow this instruction.

Windows xp password

Passwords. Those ubiquitious alpha-numeric codes that protect us and give us access to everything digital. Unfortunately, passwords can be confusing because, though your computer likely won't forget a password, you very well might. When this happens, you can be locked out from your whole system, as in the case of the Windows XP Administrator Password. This article will show you how to remove an Administrator password.

Instructions:
  1. Insert your Windows XP CD into your CD drive and boot your computer. If you receive the message "press any key to boot from CD," press any key.
  2. Step 2 Press Enter to setup Windows. After accepting the license agreement, you wil be asked if you want start a Repair process.
  3. Step 3 Press R to begin the Repair process. Setup will now check your disks and then start copying files, which can take several minutes. After this, reboot. Let the computer boot normally (do not press a key to boot from CD).
  4. Step 4 Keep your eye on the lower left hand side of the screen. When you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10. This will open a command line console.
  5. Step 5 Type NUSRMGR.CPL at the prompt and press Enter. This will give you access to User Accounts. Remove or change your password. Write it down! After the repair is finished, you will be able to log on with your new password.
Good luck!

Lan driver

I have also had this situation many times. I needed a LAN driver and could not find it. Then I realized that the LAN driver comes as part of the windows xp software. If there is a hardware for a Lan installed, then the windows xp (I always used the Home Edition), found the hardware and applied the software to it. Why don't you try this idea. The only thing that you will need will be a copy of the windows Home Edition. Remember that when you do somethinglike this, you will need to notify windows that the reason for the re-installation is for repairs. When you come to the first pause of the installation you are asked about repairs, but those repairs need that the administartor be identified etc. and all kinds of bruhaha! the next is the one you have to push F8 to start going. The next one has three options. The first one says that if you are doing repairs you push the "R" button. Ignore all other questions and continue to erasing old windows and then choosing and installing the files for the installations. When you finish the installation and you asked to activate windows using the internet, they will accept you under repairs and you windows disk will not be charged with one installation. It all depends if your LAN hardware is in a working condition, but I have never seen one bad yet.... Thank you for your consideration and choice of our service... My name is Constantin (arzconst is my internal nickname under Fixya.com).

Hi there. The issue you are having is due to a modified MBR. You need to do the following:
  1. First of all, you need to have your Windows Administrator password handy. Since this doesn't apply to you, you can skip it. If you don't have it, it may still ask for it, you will have to reset it. This may be difficult but it may work for you. To reset this password, go to Start > Run. Type "control userpasswords2" without the quotation marks. Once you are in, select "Administrator", then "Reset Password". Reset this password to something you will remember. OK everything and prepare for the fun.
  2. Insert your Windows CD. Boot from it. Once you are booted to it, you will be at a menu with three options: Install... Repair... Quit. Select the Repair option. You may be asked if you want to use the Automated Repair Disk or Recovery Console. Select the option for Recovery Console.
  3. You will now enter a Command Based environment. Similar to DOS actually but more powerful. This is the Recovery Console. When you enter, you may be asked to select the Windows installation of choice. Select your Windows installation. If it asks for the Administrator password, enter it. If it was XP Home, it's most likely a blank password.
  4. Once you log in, type the following command: FIXMBR (Note: If it asks to continue, say yes. This will delete the old MBR and create a new one).
  5. Once this command completes, use this comand: FIXBOOT (Note: This will create a new Boot record. The old one has been torched by the FIXMBR so this will create a new one for you).
  6. Once done, type exit and try reinstalling your OS. This should help you out.
Good Luck and Have Fun.
