Question about Microsoft Internet Explorer 7

1 Answer

Internet Explorer 7 on my HP desktop (Vista) locks up.

I have tried the Microsoft repair suggestions, which have reduced the problem, but it still occasionally occurs. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tony

I also use IE 7 on an Emachine desktop (Vista HP) with Norton Internet Security 2009. Occationally when I'm surfing the internet, IE 7 will lock up, the mouse pointer disappears, and keyboard locks up. The only way I've found to correct the problem is turn the computer off and on again. Sometimes the computer will tell me IE 7 has stopped working and ask if I want to wait, close, or restart it. Any suggestions?

Do you have the same problems when you start it by going to Start -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)? If not, you will have to systematically enable add-ons and browser extensions one-by-one to determine the culprit.

2. Install any other browser.
3. Try Internet Explorer 8

Good luck.

The internet explorer icon is not responding (no matter how many times i clik)?

It is possible that the shortcut icon is broken. Click start and then click Internent Explorer apposed to clicking it on your desktop.

I would also recommend installing the latest available Internet Explorer for your computer.
Click here to download Windows Internet Explorer 8.( For Microsoft Windows XP or Vista.)
Click here to download Windows Internet Explorer 9.( For Microsoft Windows Vista or 7.)

Be sure to select your version of Microsoft Windows under the correct language. Click the download button to proceed.

Take care!

No internet explorer

You have not mentioned the operating system .. plz mention it .. However generally you can open computer or my computer .. go to the c: drive go to program files and look for internet explorer folder .. in that folder you could find an icon which looks like IE but would be written iexplorer.. U can use this as your IE .. rt click send to desktop and you will have an icon for it in the desktop. you can rename it to anything you like once it is in your desktop screen..

How do i stop windows search 4.0 from indexing internet explorer, it indexes on every web page i go to, internet explorer history shows up on summary of selected locations but cant get rid of

Does Windows Search only work on Windows XP, or does it also work on Vista? If you are using Windows XP, you can uninstall Windows Search 4.0 by going to the add remove software icon in the control panel.
In Windows 7, to remove Internet Explorer History from the indexed locations list, click the Start Button, and then type: control /name Microsoft.IndexingOptions then hit enter. in the Indexing Options, you can see the items listed. Click Modify, and on the Indexed Locations window that pops up, uncheck the box next to Internet Explorer History.
If you are on Windows Vista and find that neither of these suggestions work, sorry about that. I don't have a vista machine to try it on because I can't stand vista.

I need to upgrade my internet explorer6. Everytime I try, I get a message that says Unknown Publisher & it won't go any further. Can you help? Thank you

Go to the Microsoft website.
Download Internet Explorer 8 if you're using XP or Explorer 9 if you have Windows Vista or 7.
When prompted whether to save or run click save.
Save the file to your desktop and wait for it to finish downloading.
Once it has finished double click on it to install.

Cannot download Internet Explorer from any site I tried

Access: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads

Under the "Popular Downloads", find:

Windows Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP

If you're running Microsoft Vista, instead click "more"
to find IE8 for Windows Vista.

If you're running Microsoft 7, IE8 is pre-installed.

I need to get instructions as to ho2w to uninstall Exporer and reinstall to try to correct a reliability issue

To avoid possible headaches from interference, I suggest you uninstall in Safe Mode:
Turn your PC on or Restart. As soon as you see the black and white screen, press and hold the F8 key. Continue holding until you see a black and white menu. Safe Mode is F3 or F5.

Uninstall IE7
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Click Add or Remove Programs. 3. Scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7, click it, and then click Change/Remove.
If for some reason Windows Internet Explorer 7 does not appear in the Add or Remove Programs you should:
1. Open Windows Explorer 2. Click Tools | Folder Options 3. Click the View tab 4. Make sure the radio button next to Show hidden files and folders is on  5. Click OK 6. Click Start, and then click Run 7. Type: %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe into the text box and click Enter
If you find yourself still needing help uninstalling Internet Explorer 7, check out the IE7 release notes found on the Microsoft MSDN Web site.
