You are right the battery is a goner. As for the replacement the process is pretty easy. Just unscrew the back, pop the old one out and install the new one. One thing you need to check before changing the battery are the specifications. Most mp3 players have around 3V and 900-3000mAH. SO thats the only thing you need to check before you order a replacement.
