Pioneer dvd rw dvr 111d isn't burning properly

I have a Pioneer dvd rw dvr 111d that's not working right. I use roxio easy cd/dvd creator 6 for burning movies. It only burns them only about 1.2x-1.5x and suppose to burn up to 16x. I've been using roxio with this burner for a long time with no problem. A month or so I had a problem with the sound(soundcard) and couldn't fix it so ended up reinstalling Windows XP. That fit the sound problem. I installed Roxio and it work for a time or two. Then one time I tried disc copier in Roxio it said no supported recorder was found. If this keeps happening to reinstall Roxio. Which I have Several times and a few times it would come up with that message and would work properly. Then I would shut down cpu and I rstart it and use Roxio it would come up with the no supported recorder message. Also when I start itunes it pops up a message saying the registry setting used by itunes drivers for importing and burning cd and dvd are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other cd burning software. Please reinstall itunes. I install itunes right before I started having this problem, I think. I haven't tried to reinstall itunes yet because I hate to lose my data. Is there a way you can save the data and uninstall and reinstall itunes? Does anyone know if itunes has anything to do with my dvd burning problems? Thanks

SOURCE: Internal Burner Error

my sugestion is not to burn at 16x but to burn at 8x and use another burning software that allowsx you to burn at 8x speed as I've found I get alot of errors at max burn on my burner. so I dropped the burnner speed and have not had any problems with burning. hope this helps

SOURCE: Low burn speed

I had the same problem before upgrading my RAM. Seems video burning software like nero are RAM hogs; if you do not have a large amount of RAM then it slowers the burning speed down to a crawl.[ BTW I didn't get maximum burning speeds using nero on a Windows Vista computer until I upgraded to 2 GB RAM] Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer.

When I insert a blank DVD-R disk into my Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111D burner, no "untitled disk" icon appears on my desktop. I am using a Mac mini computer. This is the first time this has happened...

Go into your system profiler. Make sure the DVD is showing up. Click the DVD and check what disks it can use and make sure the disks you are using are compatible.

Best of luck, Jim

My drive is listed as DVD-RW-DVR-lllD, but when I put a DVD disk into it, it changes automatic to CD-RW Drive E. How do I keep it as a DVD burner?

Try burning a disk, and taking the burnt disk to another computer, to see if the other computer recognizes the media as being a DVD disk.

Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111d instruction manual

The manual likely is at the Pioneer website. But why do you need it? These drives stick in your computer pretty easily, and only function if you have a good DVD burning program installed. Did it come with an installation CD? Your burning program may be on that. If you run into trouble, just call Pioneer--they owe it to you.
