Hello,

You can play both Playstation and Playstation 2 games on PC using emulator softwares. We don't support piracy here so do this only if you have a original Playstation disc. And you will need to dump your bios from your own PS2,since the emulator needs those files to play the games on your pc.For further details on how to configure the emulators you can checkout the forums and official websites of the emulators themselves.

Here is the link for PS2 emulator http://pcsx2.net/downloads.php download the first one named
pcsx2 0.9.6 installer.And here is its configuration guide http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Official-English-PCSX2-configuration-guide-v0-9-6

That was for Playstation 2,if you want to play only PlayStation 1 games then download epsxe from this page along with the config utility http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/psx/epsxe.html

Thanks for using Fixya!

PS2

Step 1 – Download and install PCSX2 PCSX2 comes in two packages. A binary package (which you have to un7zip) and an installation file. Just install or extract it to the folder of your choice.
Step 2 – Getting the BIOS files Contrary to the first PlayStation, the PlayStation 2 uses several BIOS files. Basically, these are the hardest to find. Because they are copyrighted material, you are only allowed to own these files if you also own a PlayStation 2. MakeUseOf does NOT encourage piracy! This is also the reason why it’s illegal to host these files online. If you actually own a PlayStation 2 though, it’s not illegal to download them (laws may differ in your country).
So now you basically have two options layed out for you. You can either dump them from your PlayStation 2 yourself, or find someone else who dumped them and who put the files online. On this last website you can find the ROM1, eROM and the SECAM-, NTSC- and PAL BIOS files you’ll need. Again, you must’nt download them if you don’t have a PlayStation 2. You can put these files in a folder of you’re choice.
Step 3 – Running PCSX2 and configuring BIOS, video and controller input The program comes in two different versions. One version uses TLB (pcsx2t.exe), the other one Virtual Memory (pcsx2.exe). First of all, try running the VM version. The program will try to reallocate the memory, after which you have to log off and on again. If it fails to do so, you’ll have to use the TLB version. This one is somewhat slower, but according to the developers the speed difference is not that great.
After you’ve started up, select ‘Config’ -> ‘Configure’.
First, we’re going to configure our BIOS. Press ‘Set Bios Directory’ and select the folder where you’ve put your BIOS files. Back in the Configuration screen, select the correct region from the Bios drop-down menu. You might want to change this now and then, depending on your games.
epsx2biosconf.jpg Next, the video plug-ins. PCSX2 comes with ZeroGS KOSMOS and GSdx9 plug-ins. A ‘Ps2 Output’ window (which looks similar to the command screen) normally opened when you started PCSX2. Else, temporarily close the Configuration screen, select ‘Misc’ -> ‘Enable Console’ and restart the program. In this Ps2 Output screen, look if ‘Detected SSE2′ is stated under Features. If not, you might want to choose the ‘no SSE2′ video plug-in.
ps2output.gif If you press the ‘Configure…’ button under the video drop-down menu, you can tweak graphic related options like screen size, toggle full-screen, anti-aliasing and more.
As for the controller, I highly recommend LilyPad. This is one of the most adjustable plug-ins. You can use keyboard, mouse and controller input. There even is a setting so you can use your Guitar Hero guitar.
Just download it here, and drop it in the plugins directory. If you’ve used the installer, that would be C:\Program Files\Pcsx2_0.9.4\plugins .
Re-open the Configuration screen, select LilyPad from the drop-down menu and press configure. In the ‘General’ tab, you can tweak various settings. Select the ‘Pad 1′ or ‘Pad 2′ tab to configure the keys.
Step 4 – Test-driving and alternative plug-ins With everything set up, it’s about time for a test-drive. We’re going to look if everything works as it should, and look which points need more improvement.
We can boot the games, depending on the plug-in we use, either by CD/DVD or by using an image file. The standard configuration uses Linuzappz, which is able to boot ISO’s and other image files. To do this, just select ‘File’ -> ‘Run CD/DVD’.
If you want to boot from a disc instead, go back to the configuration screen and select the P.E.Op.S driver from the Cdvdrom dropdown menu. Press configure to select an interface (based on your operating system) and the drive you want to use. Confirm your configuration and you’re ready to roll. Select ‘File’ -> ‘Run CD/DVD’ to boot from the chosen drive.
epsx2run.jpg At this point you’ll be prompted for a date and a timezone, after which the game will start. If you’ve got problems with the graphics or sound, try using one of the the other plug-ins. You can get more additional plug-ins here.
If you’re still having problems, check the compatibility status of your game here.
Have fun!

Tekken 5 slow on PC

To emulate the PS2 takes a lot of system power so your PC might not be strong enough to handle it.

I am trying to run tekken 5 on pcsx29.4 will it work.

I would have to assume since you didn't know how to setup a bios correctly that this is your very first emulator and this is the first time you've tried to use one. Go .::HERE::. and read Solution #2 . Read all of solution 2 please. Next read this page, all of it please, .::HERE::.

The reason why I sent you to those two pages is because one or all of the following things is true about your problem.

1.) You're using the wrong country BIOS for the version of the game you are playing (example you're trying to use a japan bios to play a USA game)

2.) You're using the wrong .EXE as your main emulator. (PCSX2.EXE is for Pentium 4 processors, PCSX2T.EXE is for AMD processors.)

3.) You didn't even bother to configure PCSX2 with video card settings and processor settings you left them all at default and tried to run PCSX2.(will 100% always result in a game crash lol.)

4.) Your computer does not even meet the bare minimum system requirements of PCSX2.

Every single thing here you could have avoided if you have read .::HERE::. always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always always
read the HOW TO or GUIDE of the person who made the program before you ask anyone any questions. Saves us both time. So please read that guide first (because I know you have not) then I'll be more then happy to help you further.

PLAY PS2 GAMES ON PC

Ok, you want a full procedure here it is. First of all if your computer does not meet the following specs stop reading cuz you'll be wasting your time trying to get it to work and will be very disappointed by the quality of game play:

Minimal Specs:
AMD 64 or Intel Pentium 4 (VM Build will not work with non SSE2 CPU's)
512MB of RAM
Pixel Shader 2.0 supporting card

Recommended Specs: (For reasonable performance in many games, but not all)
AMD64 X2 or Intel Conroe E6600+ (Multi Threading is supported in PCSX2)
512-1024MB of RAM (more RAM allows for VM mode to be stable)
Pixel Shader 2.0 supporting card (recommended GeForce 6600-8800 or equivalent ATi card)

Possible Ideal Specs:
64bit OS such as Vista or winXP64, to allow for future support of 64bit recompilers.
Future AMD or Intel Quad Coremaybe needed, but currently the support of 4 threads is not handled byPCSX2, and the effect of threading out EE / VU is not yet known.
We don't forsee you requiring a GPU more powerful than the current generation of cards, up to and including the nVidia GeForce 8800.

Also note, if if have just a standard AMD Athlon (non64) don't even bother trying to run this emulator. It does work but is very very slow.

If you meet at the very least the minimum specs go here and download PCSX2 Binary. .::CLICK HERE::.

This is the BEST PS2 emulator currently on the net. There is NONE better.

Next: as with any emulator you need a BIOS in order to use it. There are several methods to getting a PS2 BIOS. You can google "PS2 BIOS download" or check torrent sites like this one .::HERE::.and do a search for "PS2 BIOS". At any rate, get 1 or many BIOS(one for each different area ex. Japan, US, Europe)

Next: Un-7zip the PCSX2 7zip. Take the BIOS.bin files you downloaded and place them all in the folder, "bios" in the PCSX2 folders you unzipped.

Next: You'll notice two icons that look the same one is called pcsx2.exe and one is called pcsx2t.exe. I have had no luck getting anything to play worth a **** on pcsx2.exe. I use pcsx2t.exe. According to the person who made this program, pcsx2.exe is a faster emulator version, but he says that AMD people have had better luck using pcsx2t.exe. So, if your computer has an AMD processor try the pcsx2t.exe first. But keep what I said in mind cuz you may have to use the other one instead. In either case, choose one and run it.

Next: When the program opens, it will have to be configured. Look at the top of the program and click the, "config" menu option. Next click the, "configure" menu option. You are now faced with several configuration options. I'm not even going to bother explaining what each option does, go .::HERE::. it explains what everything does. 9 times out of 10 when pcsx2 won't work, it's cuz of a bad configuration. SO MAKE SURE YOU READ THAT WHOLE PAGE.

As you can see there two ways you can load a game. Either by turning the game itself into an ISO or from using your DVD-ROM drive.

As far as controlers go, you can purchase USB PS2 look alikes from most computer stores. You can also get PS2 to USB converters that you can plug directly into your computer. And there is even a SIAXIS driver floating around on the internet that will run a PS3 controler as if it was a standard computer game controler. If you don't have money for a controler or what not just use the ZeroPAD option under, "First Controler" and start binding keyboard keys to assigned slots.

As with any emulator nothing is perfect and this will not play every single PS2 game out on the market. However, this is the most current emulator in production atm and is the furthest along. When you get everything up and running you'll want to look ..::HERE::. at the compatibility list to make sure your game is registered to even work with this emulator.

Hope that helps,
L8er
