Installing windows xp on Eee PC 900 what a nightmare
Ok i have been trying to install xp on this thing for like 6 months. i have done the nlite thing and a couple others i cant even remember. i cant seem to make it bootable! idk what to do but this thing is useless on leniux. you cant do anything! help please i am going crazy
I tried this on my laptop when my cd drive was non-functioning. You have to have another pc with a functioning cd drive and a XP cd. I didn't follow any instructions for using nLite ( not sure what it is anyway ) and when I followed all the instructions, I was able to boot from the USB stick and install XP without a hitch.

ok first thing is to calm down and wipe out the computer. It seems you have a windows crash and re-installing a fresh copy should solve this problem. If you do not have one then go on google and search for ubuntu 9.04, download and put on a cd and put cd in pc and install new open source o/s.Its free and requires no licence nor any need to buy anything, unless you have a license copy of windows.
I have the linux version, not sure if you have the windows version or if it really matters. If you are looking to "reformat", you can go with the other suggestions with the USB stick. However, if you are reformatting to get back to the default settings, power on the computer and immediately hold F9. This will bring you to a screen that gives you the option to "restore factory defaults". You will lose all your previous settings, but if you were reformatting anyway, that's probably not a big concern.
