Why would the water be coming out really slow in my refrigerator

if the water filter is a small open ended type filter it needs to be primed before it is installed.Air will build up inside the water lines and slow the water from coming out

It is very common for the water dispensing tube to become frozen if there is a slow drip coming from the water fill solenoid in the back of the refrigerator.

water stopped dispersing out of water dispense, No indication as to why. New filter was instlled, checked water line, no leakage indicated, ice maker had been making ice prior to this, turned off ice maker to avoid motor burn out.

You need to check the water pressure coming from the water shut off to the frig. Sometimes right at the shut off debris gets in and the water comes out really slow.

if this isnt the problem then it could be one of three
water valve not opening 100% (replace)
ice maker timer is not working properly (replace)
the tube that feeds the ice maker is frozen

In can be partially stopped up at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in from the house. There is a mesh screen in the valve where the supply hooks up. When you have it disconnected let it run into a pail to flush out any sediment in the supply line.

more than likely either your water line to the filter or the filter is plugged and needs repl., slightly loosen water line at each dide of filter and see where you start to get constant good water flow,then you've found the culprit

If you are referring to water coming out the fountain it could be a leak in the system somewhere allowing air into the lines that run the water, if you are referring to water coming out of the ice maker itself you need a new ice maker the lining is bad

The water does come out slow on these models. I know you said you replaced your filter with a new one and it is still not any faster.


I own a Kenmore Elite #596 73503 201. I have not changed my filter for approximately 18 months and when I timed how long it took to fill a 2 Cup measuring cup (liquid measure) it took: less than 45 seconds. Can you test yours and post back how long it takes with your fridge?

Sounds like your water inlet valve is malfunctioning. This is a dual solenoid valve located in the back, behind the cardboard cover.
