hello,yes you are to look at the dry joint connectors,that is where the fault came from.i would suggest you visit an authorized repairer to help you give a proper check on the dry joint if you arenot electronically inclined so as not to compound the problem.

Check 2 areas,capacitors c102 c103 c104 for burnt joints all in deflection cct.and burnt connector at scan coil at tube end,if its this second problem c102 and line output transistor may also be faulty.

An answering machine would have to be setup separate from the Norstar System. Install a jack for your Line 1 and connect the answering machine.

You should have two jacks on your answering machine. One should be marked "Line". Plug the telephone cord from your wall into this one. The other jack should be marked "Phone". You will need another telephone cord to plug into this and then connect the other end to the phone.

Try joining the company's website. You should then be able to download the manual.

I reviewed the user guide for that model, and I only see that it is an answering machine. I may indeed be wrong, but is there a chance you have a different model unit? Regardless of the model, normally you have to put the base in registration mode simultaneously when the handset it put in registration mode like you were doing before. If you do not have the user guide you can join Beoworld.org for $27 a year and download it for "free". I am curious to know if you have a different model or if you can register cordless handsets to the 1200. Maybe you can post an update. Just learning this model myself. Good Luck

Make sure answer machine function is turned on. Bottom right button.
Make sure an outgoing message is set. Should see a <-> arrow in the display screen. If not, press the <-> button. To record outgoing message... the press the middle button; record out going message; press middle button. Wait a few seconds and you should be set. Hope this helps
