Is it losing the signal, is that what you mean by on and off? Or is the power going on and off? Check ALL cables, reseat same. Does it do the same when plugged in using a Ethernet Cable? Contact your ISP to verify any troubles in your area and to verify the signal. It may be a outside equipment issue or your hardware , hard to say until you eliminate the possibilities one by one. ISP Modem, cables, Wireless device. If you are losing power check the AC jack in the wireless device, it often gets pulled by the cord breaking the connection inside the wireless device.

SOURCE: connecting my ipod touch to my wireless router through wi fi

Hi,

Check for the password on the router configuration page to make sure tat you are using the correct one:

1. Open the browser(Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox).
2. Access the router usually http://192.168.0.1 else try http://www.routerlogin.com
3. Login to the router (User Name = admin Password = password unless you have changed it).
4. Click on Wireless Settings'(under Setup) from the left menu.
5. Check if 'WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)' or 'WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)' is selected under 'Security Options'.
6. If WPA-PSK is selected, copy the code entered in the passphrase.
7. If WEP is selected, copy the code entered in the Key that has a black dot before it.
This is the code required for connecting the wireless computer to the routers' wireless network.
Enter the same password on IPOD to connect to the wireless network.

Rate it,if it helps.

SOURCE: Obtaining the Encryption Code for my D-Link router

try logging on to your router's ip address (google search "[your router model] ip address"

after logging in (default username : admin, password: it is blank), look for the WEP key settings. it should show it there.

SOURCE: my d-link 2640t wireless router suddenly no Wi-Fi

This one can be one of two things.

If you have a digital multimeter, check the power connection and make sure that it's not to high (eg. 7.5 V DC should read no more than 7.8 V for it to work properly)

Otherwise, just reset the router. I have a feeling it is the first one.

Once it reaches to 130% above of what's rated, it can fry your network adapter in your computer and possibly more damage if it's wired.

SOURCE: setting up secure wi-fi

You need to log into the wireless router either by a computer that successfully connects wirelessly or by physically connecting with an ethernet cable. Once connected, log into the router by open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari), and typing the router's address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) into the Address (or URL) line. The default usernameand password is usually "admin" & "admin" or "admin" & "password". Once successfully logged in, look for a tab or link that says "Wireless" or "Security". You'll be able to change whether security is enabled or disabled, and the password associated with it. Your security options are WEP or WPA (or WPA-PSK). WPA-PSK is the most secure, but WEP is also an acceptable choice. Select the security option of your choice and either enter text into the passphrase generator or choose your own password and type it into one of the security key text fields. If you use a password that is not a plain english combination of letters and numbers, be sure to write it down so that you can enter it as needed on other wireless devices that need to access your router (ie-pda phones, game consoles, laptops, desktops, etc). Be sure to save changes so that the security settings and password is saved.
Let me know how you make out.

My kindle seems to have disconnected from the wifi, it says "you are oflinef"

Go to the Settings Menu, Select the Wireless & VPN option and see if you are in Airplane mode, if you are, turn that off. Then select Wi-Fi. See if Wi-Fi is turned on. If it's not turn it on. There should be a list of available Wi-Fi routers. If one is not selected select one that is open or that you have the password to. If none are open or they are locked and you don't have a password, you'll need to get a password for one, or install your own Wi-Fi router.

Hello Ricardo.
How are You? I Guess you need to
1- Check your wi-fi router model.
2- Check your wi-fi settings.
also please check how many devices are connected to your wi-fi at same time. because some routers can only support upto 5 device. you can check this in the settings and also routers manual.

Please let me know, once you done with it.

How to get a connection of WI fi when we don't have a password for it?

Why don't you have a password for it? If it's coming from your router you should know the password. If it is not coming from your router, then you are out of luck.

Connecting my motorola defy to wifi router

Go to 'Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings', and, if the 'Wi-Fi' checkbox is unticked, tick it. After a little while, a list of available networks will be shown. If you want to refresh that list, tap 'Menu > Scan'. Anyway, if the network you want to connect to is in the list, tap over it and tap 'Connect'. You will be prompted to fill in the passphrase (if any). Otherwise, i.e. your network is not shown (e.g. it is hidden), tap 'Add Wi-Fi network', fill in its name, under 'Network SSID', the security encryption method, and the password (if any). Then, tap 'Save'. You can also specify your Wi-Fi sleep policy and other settings, by tapping 'Menu > Advanced'. After you finish, tap 'Menu > Save'. Again, press the back button as many times you need to go back to where you were before.
By the way, if your phone's user guide happens to be missing, feel free to download it from this location.
Anyway, please, let me know if I can help you out any further.

Regards, Carlos

The ethernet and internet lights all light up when i plug in my router, but not the power light. I was about to go out and buy a bunch of ethernet cables to hook up the home computers, but don't want...

Dosn't the router come with cables? Connect one computer to the router and see if it works.

If the router is brand new and hasn't been set up yet, it may have open wi-fi working right out of the box without needing a password. In that case, you could use a computer or tablet that has wi-fi, and no need for an ethernet cable.

Describe your 7" G-Netbook

There may be many reasons for this. Please check the following things one by one.

1. If you have another known good laptop then try it with your wi-fi router. See if the wi-fi router is able to connect to the internet

2. If you don't have another laptop then use an ethernet cable (RJ45) cable to connect to the wi-fi router. See if this helps.

3. While connected with the wi-fi router see if you can access the router. open any internet browser and type 192.168.0.0. you should get the router page. If you don't get then you have to configure the router first.

4. Check the internet settings of your browser. There will be "internet options" or similar in the menu of your browser. Click that. In the GUI you will get "connections" tab. Click that and select the proper wi-fi setup.
