Question about Zoom Wireless-G 4410 (44100000) 802.11g/b

I have the zoom wireless g router adapter. I am running on xp service pack 2 and want to connect an extra computer with the usb to my network. The software picks up my router connects then every to to three seconds turns to 'try to authenticate'so i know the connection is getting through i just cant get it to stay!! any ideas?

*Check the advance settings of the router:

Turn the MAC filtering off
Disable the wifi-protected setup

*For the computer settings:

Disable the IEEE of the wireless adapter.

- Reconnect to the network again.

Note: Just make sure that the driver and adapter are installed properly.

No matter what i do and what settings i try my nice brand new WNDA3100 wont even aquire a network address. Connecting with or without security doesn't make a lick of difference it just times out...


Have you tried going to your WIRELESS CONNECTIONS, clicking PROPERTIES, the Click Authentication, then clear the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network check box. If it's not checked then it isn't being used. This can be a problem for those running XP with service pack one. You can also resolve the issue by getting service pack 2.

If that isn't your situation (ie you don't have xp with service pack 1) does it behave this way when the computer is sitting in the same room as the wireless router? Do other wireless machines you use connect to the router? Did you use netgear's utilities to set up your wireless network or the one in windows? Sometimes that can make all the difference.

If it works in the same room by not in another room it could be the antenna or something blocking the signal between the router and the machine such as a furnace.

If you set it up using netgear's utilities and it is functioning intermittantly (and you're sure the network set up is correct because sometimes you can get online) then it is possible the adapter itself has a problem. If it's new you can return it.

Also make sure you are using the correct GATEWAY, which would be the ip number of your router. It could be that you're picking up a weak signal from a nearby neighbor.

Can not connect to Verizon MiFi2200 wireless network


Yes the verizon tech informed you right that the ip address will be acquired by your wireless adapter automatically. However there are lots of reason that your adapter not able to connect wireless.

1. Make sure no firewall or antivirus is blocking your wireless connection to connect wirelessly.
2. Make sure you are entering the right password for the wireless network if your network is secured.
3. Make sure the wireless adapter driver installed properly.
4. You can also try to restart the DHCP services through which your computer will try to get the ip address. I am giving you the steps how to restart the DHCP service once again.
- Click on start
- Under start search or under run type in services.msc
- Search for DHCP client and right click on that and you can click on restart. It will restart your services.
5. Make sure other computer are able to connect wirelessly to identify whether there is a problem with the router or a wireless adapter.
6. Make sure the wireless channel on the router is correct sometime due to wireless channel your computer not connect.

Limited or No Connectivity on Windows XP

Limited or no connectivity indicates that the computer cannot acquire a valid IP address. This is due to incorrect network key you have entered. We need to check the correct WEP key in your router's setup page. Here are the troubleshooting steps we recommend you try:

Note: You need to use a computer hardwired to the router to check the wireless settings.

1. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
2. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field. Please click Enter or Return key.
3. A window will prompt for a user name and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".

Note: If it does not take password as the password, you might have changed it when you have run the NETGEAR Setup CD so please try other passwords. If you cannot remember the password, you need to reset the router and run the Setup CD to reconfigure it.

4. Click on Wireless Settings under Setup page.
5. Take note of the SSID.
6. Scroll down, look for the Security Options and check whether WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) or WPA (Wi-fi Protected Access) is selected.
7. If its WEP is enabled, copy the value of the selected Key number. If WPA is selected, take note of the Passphrase.
8. To configure the computer with wireless adapter, please consider the following:

Configuring the NETGEAR adapter and Saving the Profile

Netgear wireless N USB adapter wont connect to my netgear router


Here are some troubleshooting steps that I suggest you try:

1. Check physical connections.

a. Connect the modem to the Internet port of the router. The Internet “i” LED on the front of the router should light up.
b. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports (i.e port 1, 2, 3 or 4) on the back of the router. The corresponding port light where you connected the computer should be lit up.

2. Access the router's web-based utility.

a. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
b. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
c. A window will prompt for a user name and password. By default, the user name is "admin" and the password is "password".

Note: If you were unable to access the router's web-based utility, you may reset the router to restore the settings to factory default.

To reset the router:

a. Please push the reset button at the back of the router and release after 30 seconds.
b. Unplug the power adapter for 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

3. Configure the router.

If your Internet Service Provider is using a cable connection, please follow the steps below:

a. Click on Basic Settings under Setup tab.
b. Select No for Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?.
c. Scroll down on the center page and look for the Router MAC Address section. Set it to Use computer MAC address and click on the Apply button.

If your Internet Service Provider is using a DSL connection, please follow the steps below:

a. Click on Basic Settings.
b. Select Yes for Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?.
c. Select Other on the Internet Service Provider drop down box.
d. Enter your ISP's username (username@ISPdomain) and password. Then, click on Apply.

4. Configure the wireless settings.

a. Click on the Wireless Settings under Setup.
b. Change the SSID to any unique name.
c. Scroll down, look for the Security Options settings and select WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy).
d. Set the Authentication type to "Automatic" and the Encryption Strength to "64bit".
e. Leave the Passphrase field blank, select Key 1 and enter a 10-digit number.

Note: The 10-digit number you typed in the key 1 will be the password or network key for the wireless connection.

f. Click Apply button to save the changes.
g. Go to Router Status under Maintenance tab and check if there is an IP address under Internet port. If it's 0.0.0.0, do a power cycle.

5. Power cycle.

a. Power off the modem, router and computers.
b. Turn on the power of the modem first and wait for it to initialize, the lights to stop blinking.
c. Power back the router and the computers. Check if it will be able to get online.

If you have wireless computers, you can connect them wireless to the router. Kindly follow the instructions below:

6. Connect wireless computer to the router.

If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 1, please follow the steps below:

a. Please right click on the Wireless icon on the right lower end portion of your computer.
b. Then click on View Available Wireless Networks.

d. It will ask you for a network key. Type in the network key and confirm it. Then click on Connect.

From the above configuration, please check if you can now access the Internet.

Netgear Wireless USB 2.0 adaptor cannot find a signal


Before doing that, make sure your wi-fi is turned on in your router. If the adapter is not seeing a signal, it may well be that your router is not broadcasting one. If you have another computer with wi-fi (like a notebook), or know someone who does, you can always use it (or theirs) to see if they can "see" the router via wi-fi, which will tell you if the problem is router or adapter.

Possible reason why your computer is not getting online wirelessly is because the wireless settings on the router and the wireless settings on your computer do not match. Here are some troubleshooting steps that I suggest you try:

A. Checking the Wireless Settings of the Router

Note: You need to use a computer hardwired to the router to check the wireless settings.

1. Open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
2. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
3. A window will prompt for a user name and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".

Note: If it doesn't take password as the password, you might have changed it when you have run the NETGEAR Setup CD so please try other passwords. If you can't remember the password, you need to reset the router and run the Setup CD to reconfigure it.

4. When the setup page opens, click on the Wireless Settings under Setup and take note of the SSID.
5. You may also change the wireless channel here. We suggest channels 1, 6 and 11.
6. At the bottom of the page, look for the Security Options. If in case that the security is set to WEP or WPA-PSK, we have to enter the same wireless security on all wireless PCs. To make sure of the key, we can try modifying the security. Please refer to the following:

For WEP: Select Key 1 and enter 10 hexadecimal digits (0-9 and A-F) on the empty box beside it. Then, click on Apply.

For WPA-PSK: Enter an alphanumeric key (minimum of 8 characters) on the Passphrase box and click on Apply.

Note: The Key and Passphrase are case-sensitive.

7. On the left pane, please scroll down and click on Wireless Settings under Advanced. Please make sure that the boxes for Enable Wireless Router Radio and Enable SSID Broadcast are checked.
8. Click on the Setup Access List button and uncheck the box Turn Access Control On.
9. Click the Apply button.

There is some additional information that would be required before I answer your questions: 1. Which Operating System are we using. If it is Windows XP, which service pack (Control Panel -> System)? 2. Which Wireless Router or Access Point? 3. The computer is a laptop or a desktop 4. If it is a desktop, what is the distance between the router and the computer.
