When we bought our M reg Nissan Micra 2 months ago, it ran out of petrol just as it arrived on our forecourt. In the proceeding 2 months we've topped it up with a few litres of fuel in order to keep it turning over (waiting for hubby to pass his test!). Finally got licence (and tax and insurance) on wednesday and drove the car to a filling station and gave it half a tank of unleaded. on the way back, the car started juddering and jumping forward. We nursed the car for a while and then it start driving fine for 5 minutes then started the kangeroo petrol again until finally we had to gun the accelerator then let out the clutch to move a few feet forward. we parked up and let the car just idle for about an hour and then it drove beautifully for over an hour. Left over night, the same thing happened. we dont really have money to take it to a garage but can weild a spanner. Can anyone offer any simple suggestions (and possibly some idiot proof step by step guides) to fixing this problem. (Awaiting arrival of Haynes manual from ebay as we speak).

Hi, Like you said the rubber/plastic door seals have worn to the extent water is coming into your vehicle. Recommend you take it to any body works shop, they will replace the seals with new should not prove to expensive. Please leave me feedback thanks, Malcolm Campbell.
keys need to be programmed using a diagnostic computer and the keys need to be in good working order.
There is an over ride manual opening on the passenger door (remove plastic part of door handle).
i advice you to go to make a diagnostic on the e.c.u,as u'll find error code so that this can fix without problem, this problem do not refer to the alternator at all
It sounds like your engine is pinging and if left unchecked, can seriously damage your engine. It could be the detonation inside the combustion chamber is no longer ideal. This can be caused by improper ignition timing, an overly hot engine, bad EGR valve
disconnect connector and see if you have power when you hit the brake pedal if not you will need to trace it back until you find the power. Most likely a fuse
Hi there, just under the rear seats is where the fuel tank sender unit is and sometimes the seal will leak out strong smell of petrol, you need to remove the rear seats and the sender unit cap and check the seal, may need replacing, hope this helps.
