Question about Garden

Open Question

Am looking for a replacement head for an echo srm2010 brushcutter as I am sick of replacing the cord after 10 seconds of operation. Is there something available with decent cutting edge that can just fit straight on

    Hi Drew

I am also looking for a replacement head, for an SRM2010, but because this has done so much work that it is starting to fall apart and may collapse soon

regarding the cord breaking, in my experience this is down to the quality of the cord. It is a pain to replace.

I have previously bought 'no-name' 2.4mm cord from car boot sales and the like. That stuff is useless.

I went to my local gardening repair shop and bought their gardman heavy duty cord at an extortiante price, but it lasts. I have been strimming heavy grass (18" Tall) for over two hours today, and I only had to extend the line twice. One pays for what one gets

SOURCE: i have a makita backpack petrol strimmer fitted

Hi Doug,

There are adapters for just about every combination of trimmer, brush cutter blade, grass gator, etc. you can think of.

One of the most handy purchases has been a non specific arbor adapter set. Not only does it have 2or 3 each of the most common nuts in both left and right hand thread, it has inserts that keep every blade, flail and brushcutter I've tried dead center.

It even came with a diamond shaped one for a skillsaw blade that I tried with my Ryobi 4 cycle. That thing turns thorny blackberry vines to powder.

So the answer is yes.

Best regards

How do I replace the upper drive shaft on a Ryobi RBC430SEC brushcutter?

I couldn't find this model on google, but when replacing drive shafts in most brushcutters we used to slide the cutting head / gear assembly off the bottom of the shaft, remove the circlip holding the drive shaft if there was one, slide out the shaft from its square hole in the clutch at the motor end. If the shaft was broken we'd slide the motor part off the shaft to get the broken part of the shaft out.

Whats the recommended 2-stroke fuel/oil ratio for echo brushcutters?

50:1 is the ratio. the easiest way to do this is to get a small bottle of the 2 stroke oil premeasured for one gallon of gas.

Echo shred n vac starts, idles, runs to about half power then bogs

Check the grommet that sits on top of tank where lines from go carb. Grommet may be rotten and crack. Try that. Have you ever replace the carb repair kit? The diaphram may be torn, defoam or have holes in them. Carb kit cost arount $10, but don't mess with the welch plug or screen in carb.
