    NOOOO I do not have a solution.. and i did use your premium assistance plan and it was TERRIBLE. A WASTE of MONEY. I have asked for my money back. The connection was broken and I never was able to reconnect!!!!!

    NOTHING comes up. Don't worry about it., I have taken the machine to the dealer. This site provided NO anwers.

Are you saying that nothing at all happens every time, or sometimes you get the wrong thing i.e. you touch Prog and Rep screen comes up? Have you ever recalibrated your screen? This should be done regularly - at least every six months, but I do mine monthly. The catch is that in order to do this, you need to access the Set Menu and if your screen is not responding at all this would be impossible. In the Set Menu on the last page (I think) there is a "Color Touch Screen Adjust" button. Use this to access the calibration screen, and you must touch exactly in the centre of the two crosshairs until they turn green. Instructions are on Page 31 of my manual.

Designer 1 touch screen frozen


the touchscreen cable may have come loose or perhaps the touchscreen has failed. take the machine to an authorized Viking repair dealer to have them troubleshoot it.

My Designer 1 sewing machine touch screen is frozen and won't calibrate or respond to touching. This is intermittent behavior. Sometimes it works, and sometimes not. Can you tell me what this is


Sounds to me like the plug-in connector from the screen is not firmly attached to the motherboard (directly behind the screen but inside the machine). This kind of problem doesn't take a factory trained technician. Ask various sewing machine dealers to whom they subcontract cleaning and adjustment. Ask people who sew whether they have the name of a repair person. Taking apart the machine and replugging the connection should be all of a 15 minute job.

Hi,Try this,switch off machine,press in reverse and pivot button together,switch on,release buttons and press up/down needle button,this brings up calibration screen.With a plastic stylus or something similar(not metal) touch in centre of each cross,they should turn green.Switch off and on again. This will calabate machine the screen.

Original designer I and the touch screen is frozen.


The front cover will have to be removed to access the componets to find the problem... it could be as simple as a loose connection or as complicated as having to replace the touch screen. Removing the front cover is not a simple task if you do not have experience in working on this machine. I would suggest it go in to an "authorized dealer.

The machine is a "computer" and needs to be repaired by the dealer.

DEsigner I...I had been having some issues with the touch pad. Now it does not work at all when you touch it.


Youu either need a new touch screen or it has come unplugged from the main power board inside the machine. Those touch screens cost about $210 and should only be installed by your dealer. If you have someone try to put the touch screen in and they just touch the display screen incorrectly, you'll need a new display screen too. They cost about $700.
