Hi!
We justed moved our five node Netware 6.5 SP6 (post updates MM65sp6 and
WSOCK6k) cluster from IBM SVC (IBM DS4800 attached) to native DS4800 mode.
We changed from SDD.CDM fault tolerance to DS4800 (LSIMPE.CDM)and
swiched "set Multi-Path Support = ON".
We are using QLogic QLA2310F (2GBit) and QL2360 (4Gbit) Adapter, the
load balancing of the Qlogic driver is switched off, the drivers are
current (6.90o), BIOS also updated.
After moving to DS4800 (two fabrics, four pathes to the storage, port
based zoneing) the cluster join takes about 7mins, after that, the
resources are up and running fast.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Holger

I just reduced the HBA??s to one and the join speed was down to the half
(3mins) not to 5-15sec.
Do you think the problem lies in LSIMPE.CDM?

It's also been the default for several SPs now, so it probably is
literally "no change" to set in your startup.ncf. ;-} My cluster is
running on a Hitachi array, but I've seen the non-clustered 2107 (a
DS4800, I believe, as it shows in the Inquiry String) run very fast when
the cache has been full; performance while filling the cache wasn't quite
as high, so try rebooting several times and see if it speeds up =8-o

in Calafornia the advised me to use the following command
in Startup.ncf
Load scsihd.cdm AEN
This enables async event notification for the ibm devices. The box was a
fastT type but maybe worth a test at least.

I agree with the patching, and I have tried long and hard to get speed
and multipath working - to no avail... This has been with IBM
helping.
So, I would say, reduce to one HBA and test the join time. If much
faster, start shouting at IBM. If enough of us do that maybe they
will fix it!
