Question about Insignia NS-LCD37 37 in. LCD TV

Insignia tv shock power on/off on its own Same problem here (NS-LCD 37") - two nights ago my husband went to turn it on, got shocked, now the green power light on the front of the tv just flashes on and off but the tv never powers up. We called insignia's help line (from online website) and after talking to them (they had us unplug and plug back in -- which we had done before we called them) and then told us they could send someone out to look at it... for a fee. From everything I've read online, we might as well start looking into buying a replacement tv.

and what irks me is that it's only 21 months old. We'd actually first purchased an Insignia 32 " and it died after 4 months ( but was under the 1 year manufacturer's warranty so Best Buy took it back). I didn't buy the extended warranty on our 37" because what were the chances that the second one would die on us too???

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My Insignia LCD TV (model #
NS-LCD37) is one year and 6 months old. When I went to turn the TV off
using the power button on the side, I received a static shock. Now, the
TV will not turn on. No picture, no sound. It's as if the TV turns on
and right back off, repeatedly, by itself. If you unplug the TV and
plug it back in, it will start this on-off process all on its own, but
will never actually turn on. You can hear something on the power supply
making a high pitch noise as if it's powering on and off. I replaced
the power supply with a new one, but am still having the same problem.
I believe the problem is in the motherboard. Does anyone know what
might be the issue with the TV or how to fix it? I'm will to try
anything, because right now the TV is useless to me. I tried calling
Insignia and Best Buy and they refuse to repair or replace the TV. They
want $150 just to look at the TV, not including any cost for parts or
labor. If you need any more information, please let me know. Thank you!

And thus the wailing an gnashing of teeth. LCD TV's have really come down in price... Typically $500-$1000 for anything but ultra-high end. So something goes wrong with them.... what do you do? Typical repair cost is $250-$400 in parts, and that does not include technician house call, or labor to repair. Let's say you're the adventurous type and are pretty dang sure the problem is the PSU (power supply unit). So you order up one of those, it takes 6 weeks to get here from China. Costs you $300. You put it in and it doesn't work!!!

There you go.

So, anyways... Unplug the thing from the mains for about an hour and plug it back in. If it is still in an error condition, buy a new TV.

Change input device to some other which you know works for sure. If problem persists, try changing the channel. If you notice same problem, this may need attention by a qualified service technician.

I have a Insignia NS-LCD37 for the past 3-4 years and last night i turned it on and got zero sound. I unplugged it and turned it back on and then the sound worked. then a few hours later I turned it on...

Two options - open it up if you have electronics experience - replace the AV board or trouble shoot the board for bad components. Usually this is hard to do without the proper tools and training. you can check to see if it has busted/bulged/leaking capacitors though...

I have an l.c.d t.v. and the pic went black and the vol. is out but the power light is still on and it blinks 15 times

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

When i turn on tv screen is bright white instead of blue!!!

This is a problem that should be taken in for service as there could be many problems causing the problem. The power supply could not be supplying voltage to run the video card or you could have a failure in the video card itself. Try calling this number for Insignia Customer service help. 1-877-467-4289. Hope this helps you with your problem.
