Hello.

The DVD-Drive laser will have become weak which causes it not to read Xbox gamediscs anymore which are off a much poorer quality than regular Video DVDs and are played at much higher reading speeds which makes them more vulnerable to reading errors.

If the console is covered by the warranty call Xbox Support and ask for a repair.
If this doesnt work out or it isnt t covered by the warranty you can also try tweaking the laser on your own or have someone do it for you this works in 90% of the cases.
Here is a detailed tutorial that shows how it is done step by step:

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Hi my xbox 360 slim plays most dvd's but some it not play and it says wrong regan code what do i do

There isn't anything you cab really do without opening the xbox up.
ll DVD's have what is called a region code. this is a code that is specific to 5 regions. in North America, we are region 1, and Japan, they would be region 5. If the Xbox is purchased in North America, the DVD drive in the Xbox, is imprinted with region code 1. This mean it will only play region code 1 movies, and games.

The only thing you can do is to either mod your xbox, or replace the DVD drive with a drive from a different region, but this will make it so you can play dvds from your region.

When i try to play a dvd on my ps3 its telling me region code not found

hi there,
the ps3 will only play dvd's from your region(e.g. region 1 usa, 2 europe etc..) So depending on where you got your dvd, if it's not the region as your ps3, the ps3 will not play the dvd. however the ps3 will play blu-rays and games from anywhere in the world as it plays region-free blu-ray discs. I know it's a pain in the neck, but you will have to find a region free dvd player to play that dvd. Hope this helps.

Unlock code for jvc xv-n680

Hello robin_sim3
Try this:
1. Turn on the DVD player 2. Open the tray 3. Press "0000" on the remote control 4. Press "0" for all regions 5. Press "pause" 6. Turn off the DVD player 7. Wait for 30 seconds, then turn the DVD player back on
You should now be able to play DVD´s from all regions. If it doesn´t work, please let me know and I´ll try to help you further.

I turn it on and it says play dvd when i put a game in ??

The truth is, that this can only be fixed by Microsoft ….( or by someone who has experience in replacing players or other components on 360).
You can keep pushing that game in and out for a while, but eventually, you’ll have enough of it and the player won’t play your disks at all.
There’s nothing you can do about your xbox; there’s no fix for that, except sending it to Microsoft and have the player of your 360 replaced.

I have an X-Box that either can't (or won't) play X-Box gmaes but it'll play CD's just fine. Any ideas as to how I could solve this problem?

Hi,
You,ll need to replace The DVD Rom Drive.
The Standard/Original Xbox. only has a single laser unit. which doubles up as a cd/dvd reader. if it,s not reading xbox games, but playing cds. the laser isn,t powering up enough to read the dvd format/games.
Eject the DVD Tray. If it,s perfectly arched shape in the centre. then it,s a thomson drive. if the arch is slightly rounder it,s philips dvd drive. if it has 2 holes left/right in the drive drawer, it,s a samsung. You should have a straight swap over with the drive, it,s only the hard-drive that is eeprom locked to the motherboard.
unlike the 360 which is eeprom locked to the dvd.
try a disk head cleaner first of all.

Nothing will not read

Hi,
it appears that your DVDs laser unit has failed.
i,d suggest returning it to the supplier if guaranteed or still under warranty. if not, you,ll need a replacement dvd rom drive.
which can only be fitted, by someone that has the specialist equipment. as you cannot simply replace the drive due to keyed encryption, on the dvd drive and the motherboard.

Put this in an xbox 360 console

Did you try using a cd lens cleaner in the XBox 360 dvd drive? Check the cds that they are not scratched, and you could have your son try the discs in another XBox 360.
