Install ram in toshiba pa3171u-1mpc

Hi Kappaman,
This is an easy upgrade to make, check the bottom panel of your machine, you should have some removeable acess panels, usualy held by a number of small crosshead screws, once these screws have been loosened you should be able to remove the panel. The Ram modules are roughly 2 inchs long and slot into slots on the mainboard there will be small clips that hold the ram in place, push these away from the edges of the ram modules and the ram will flip up. this allows for removal. Look for identifying marks to buy replacements/upgrades. Simply push the new items into the slots at an angle (like the previous ram after pulling the clips) and push down to a flat position. You should hear the spring clips click into place. Hope this helps.

Manual HP530 laptop Need to upgrade memory

HP Support > HP 530 Notebook PC > Main Support Page,

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Home.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3375953&lang=en&cc=us

Under the bottom heading, Resources for HP 530 Notebook PC, click on Manuals.

Scroll down to the heading, Service and maintenance information.
Click on the first file listed -
HP 530 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide.

This is a Service Manual in PDF file form.
After you click on the file name it may take up to 30 seconds before the first page comes up.
It may also take additional time for the file to fully download.

Going back to the main support page, and again under the Resources for HP 530 Notebook PC heading, there are instructional videos available.

Repair videos and animations. (Second heading. After you click, it takes a second for the video main listings to come up)

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Home.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3375953&lang=en&cc=us

Click on, Remove/Replace Videos

In the list on the left click on Memory Boards.

[Advice:

1) Ease the spring clip outwards from the ram memory module, ('Stick'), just far enough so the 'bump' on the spring clip, clears the Side Notch on the ram memory module.

Now ease the other spring clip outwards. When both spring clips 'bumps' are clear of the Side Notches, the ram memory module will slightly pop-up.

DO NOT bring the ram memory module to a straight up 90 degree position when removing!
You will damage the gold plated contact pins on the bottom of the ram memory module.
You will also damage the contact pins in the ram memory slot on the motherboard.

When removing and installing, the ram memory module must be angled.

2) Handle a ram memory module by the Body, refrain from touching the gold plated contact pins on the bottom.
The Body is coated with a see-through protective plastic.

3) Make sure the ram memory module/s are fully seated when installing.
When the 'bumps' on the spring clips are in the Side Notches of the ram memory module, it is fully seated.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:1GB_DDR2_SO-DIMM.png

4) At the bottom of a ram memory module is a Locating Notch.
This lines up with a Locating Lug in the bottom of the ram memory slot.
Make SURE you have these two aligned when installing.

Need to know how to install additional ram

There is a little door under the laptop, with a couple screws.
If you open it, you will see the ram modules.

They are easy to remove and replace with additional (if empty slot available) or upgraded ram.

I have a compaq presario cq60-215dx notebook pc, was wondering how do i go about upgrading the RAM?

I have checked the Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX Specification It Originally has 2GB Memory and supports upto 4GB RAM max. If you intend to upgrade the RAM, you can buy additional RAM and put them in you system. Here is the HP Guide to Replace RAM and How to Upgrade RAM Guide
Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX has two RAM slots for DDR-2 (533 or 667) Memory Modules. First you have to check that the RAM slot is available for additional RAM. I believe that it has two modules of 1GB each in both slots. So, you have to get two modules of RAM 2GB each to upgrade to 4GB (or one 2GB RAM module to upgrade to 3GB). Hence, it is recommended that you get 2GB replacement module for each 1GB module you have on you system from local laptop repair/ service center, which would be cost effective as existing 1GB RAM Modules would be useless for you upon upgrade.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Good Luck!
Appreciate generously, if the solution could have been of any help!

I have Acer laptop Aspire 5570z module Zr1 with memory 1GB I want to increase memory 2GB or 3GB Is it possible or not What will be the expenditure?

Your laptop's RAM is upgradeable to up to 4 GB using two DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM modules.

So your upgrade options here are:
1. Buy a 1 GB DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM module & install it to get a total RAM of 2 GB (Price around US$ 25).
2. Buy a 2 GB DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM module & install it to get a total RAM of 3 GB (Price around US$ 45).

How can i disassemble my k40in notebook so i can upgrade the ram

If you just want to add RAM modules to your laptop, a complete dis-assembly is not necessary.

  1. Place your laptop in a way that the rear part or the bottom part is exposed.
  2. There are certain compartments found at the back part. Look for the small compartment where you can see a RAM Module "icon", which means that beneath or covered inside are RAM Modules.
  3. Simply unscrew the cover (compartment) to reveal the RAM.
  4. Look for the extra or empty RAM slot where you can insert the additional RAM module to boost your laptop's performance.

How can I upgrade/improve the capabilities of my Inspiron 1200

The best and quickest improvement is to add more RAM. Add another 512 Mb of RAM. If you already have a 512 Mb of RAM module then add another 512 Mb RAM module. If your laptop has 2X256 Mb RAM modules then you need to remove these and insert 2X512 Mb RAM modules.
The reason why you have 504 Mb RAM is that the video card has grabbed 8Mb of RAM off the main memory.

Need disassembly instructions to install additional RAM

If the ram is upgradeable, there should be an access port on the bottom that can easily be removed. Open all access ports until you find the one for ram. Then you should be able to upgrade the ram.
