Install ram in toshiba pa3171u-1mpc

Hi Kappaman,
This is an easy upgrade to make, check the bottom panel of your machine, you should have some removeable acess panels, usualy held by a number of small crosshead screws, once these screws have been loosened you should be able to remove the panel. The Ram modules are roughly 2 inchs long and slot into slots on the mainboard there will be small clips that hold the ram in place, push these away from the edges of the ram modules and the ram will flip up. this allows for removal. Look for identifying marks to buy replacements/upgrades. Simply push the new items into the slots at an angle (like the previous ram after pulling the clips) and push down to a flat position. You should hear the spring clips click into place. Hope this helps.

Tip

Ram upgrades

This is a tip explaining exactly what you should keep in mind when you want to upgrade your ram modules in your Desktop computer. This will also act as a guide which will give you step by step instructions on how to replace the ram module.

Firstly, before we start buying, we need to be sure that the upgraded ram modules are compatible with your motherboard. Here are a couple of tips you need to keep in mind.

Frequency:

You need to have a look at the frequency of the ram you are using at the moment, as well as the supported frequency of your motherboard. If your motherboard is compatible with a higher ram frequency than your current ram, you can use the frequency which the motherboard stated as maximum for optimum performance. Remember, if yu want to add ram modules, all ram will be downgraded to the ram with the lowest frequency.

Ram model:

You need to know if you are using DDR, DDR1, DDR2, DDR3 ram, some motherboards supports both DDR2 and DDR3. If your motherboard does not support a certain model, it will not fit in the slot on the motherboard, hence, it will be useless. Thus, you need to have a look at the ram model supported by your motherboard.

Latency:

Lastly, you need to have a look at the latency of the ram. The lower the latency, the better the performance.

After you have bought the new upgraded ram modules, we can install them. The following steps will guide you through the installation process.

Step 1

Shut down your computer and unplug all cables. Also, you need to take of the side panel of your computer. Remember to stay grounded at all times when you start working with the hardware of your computer.

Step 2

The second step will be to either take out the current ram modules to upgrade them, or insert the new ram modules into the other available ram slots on the motherboard. Remember to keep yourself grounded at all times while touching the any of the computer hardware. Also, handle the ram at the length end at all times, not at the width end. There will be 2 small hinges on both sides at the base of each ram modules end. You need to pivot the outwards before the ram module can be removed or inserted.

Step 3

The last step will be to screw back the side panel after you have inserted the ram modules(Be sure that you remember to clip back the hinges to ensure that the ram module is places in correctly. Never force the module, line up the ram module with the slot on the motherboard.) Also, plug back all cables into the Computer case, and enjoy your handwork.

Installed 4GB upgrade in optiplex 330 still only 2GB memmory

Your BIOS should automatically detect your new RAM when your computer starts, try starting your computer after removing your old RAM module, if it starts, you need to update your BIOS to use 4GB. If it doesn't start, you either have a faulty RAM module or a faulty connector on your motherboard. Insert the new RAM module into the slot the old RAM module was in, if your computer still refuses to start, you have a faulty RAM module which should be returned, if it does start, it's the connector on the motherboard, and only replacing the entire board will fix the problem. However, it's worth noting that your motherboard will only support RAM modules of 2GB or less, the above was written with the assumption you're adding an additional 2GB module to your Dell computer.

Need to know how to install additional ram

There is a little door under the laptop, with a couple screws.
If you open it, you will see the ram modules.

They are easy to remove and replace with additional (if empty slot available) or upgraded ram.

I have a compaq presario cq60-215dx notebook pc, was wondering how do i go about upgrading the RAM?

I have checked the Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX Specification It Originally has 2GB Memory and supports upto 4GB RAM max. If you intend to upgrade the RAM, you can buy additional RAM and put them in you system. Here is the HP Guide to Replace RAM and How to Upgrade RAM Guide
Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX has two RAM slots for DDR-2 (533 or 667) Memory Modules. First you have to check that the RAM slot is available for additional RAM. I believe that it has two modules of 1GB each in both slots. So, you have to get two modules of RAM 2GB each to upgrade to 4GB (or one 2GB RAM module to upgrade to 3GB). Hence, it is recommended that you get 2GB replacement module for each 1GB module you have on you system from local laptop repair/ service center, which would be cost effective as existing 1GB RAM Modules would be useless for you upon upgrade.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Good Luck!
Appreciate generously, if the solution could have been of any help!

Upgrade ram

In order to upgrade the ram of your desktop. First you have to check the ram specifications. If wrong specifications the desktop will not work. To check you have to remove the ram from your desktop by removing the screws behind your desktop. Open the lid and you will see the contents of your desktop. Besides of your processor, there is ram installed. Unclip it. Then bring that ram to the computer shops. Purchase a ram higher than the ram installed in your desktop. Afterwards, install the new ram to your desktop. Good luck.

I have Acer laptop Aspire 5570z module Zr1 with memory 1GB I want to increase memory 2GB or 3GB Is it possible or not What will be the expenditure?

Your laptop's RAM is upgradeable to up to 4 GB using two DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM modules.

So your upgrade options here are:
1. Buy a 1 GB DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM module & install it to get a total RAM of 2 GB (Price around US$ 25).
2. Buy a 2 GB DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM module & install it to get a total RAM of 3 GB (Price around US$ 45).

How can I upgrade/improve the capabilities of my Inspiron 1200

The best and quickest improvement is to add more RAM. Add another 512 Mb of RAM. If you already have a 512 Mb of RAM module then add another 512 Mb RAM module. If your laptop has 2X256 Mb RAM modules then you need to remove these and insert 2X512 Mb RAM modules.
The reason why you have 504 Mb RAM is that the video card has grabbed 8Mb of RAM off the main memory.
